“John Kerry Defeats George Bush” sounds like music to the ears of many Americans, but the truth is, if that happens, not many things in our country will change. Let’s look at what Kerry has done in the past, and what he claims he will do in the future.
Kerry voted for the war in Iraq, like Bush, Kerry voted for the PATRIOT Act, like Bush, (right after the “psy-op” anthrax scare), without even reading it! Kerry receives millions of dollars from corporations, like Bush. That is only the tip of the iceberg, but it shows that the two-party system is, in reality, a one party system.
Sure, some of the issues are bipartisan, like moral issues, (abortion, gay rights, death penalty, etc.), but those are Supreme Court issues, not White House issues. We have had five conservative Republicans in the White House since Roe vs. Wade, and they couldn’t overturn R vs. W, plus the death penalty is, for the most part, a state by state issue, and gay rights issues fall somewhere in between.
So, whether Bush or Kerry take control of the White House this fall, things are going to be “business as usual.” The war against Iraq was based on lies: no weapons, no threat, no 9-11 connect, no safer world! John Kerry stated more than once, that he supports this illegal war, and that he will send in MORE troops (American humans), instead of a withdrawal.
Kerry also would go along with all the provisions of the PATRIOT Act, stating that he would increase the budget for homeland security, instead of repealing that fascistic unconstitutional unAmerican PATRIOT Act, he would add to it. Remember what Ben Franklin said: A country of citizens willing to give up a little liberty in exchange for a little security, deserve neither!
I am no supporter of Bush, I think he is, by far, the worst president America has ever had, so it would seem logical that the “anybody but Bush” approach would be the only choice. I choose not the “lesser of two evils,” but the third choice: Ralph Nader. Anyone who has listened to, or read, his views on every issue, would come to the conclusion that Nader truly has everyone’s best interest at heart, (except for people involved in big business and big government.) I voted for him in 2000 in Florida, along with many other Americans, Democrats and Republicans alike, (if you re a Republican, you might research the Libertarian Party, and if you are a Democrat you might look into the Green Party, both share many Nader-like views; we might not be as divided as “They” would like...), and I don’t regret it, looking back.
If you are convinced that Kerry is the only way out of the mess that Bush, and his neo-con cronies, have gotten us into (search Project for a New American Century), then you are going to get more of the same for four more years, but if you really want to make a change for the better, a Real change, then you must decide now to break down the one-party system, (republicrats), by voting for Nader in November, and if he is not on the ballot, and you can’t write him in on the touch screen, than vote for a Green, or Libertarian, or Constitutional Party candidate. It might seem like a wasted vote, but it will be the beginning of a long overdue change in our country, where “We the People” were once served by our elected public servants, instead of us serving “them.”
