Calls for ‘Wholesale Destruction’ of the Democratic Party and Creation of an ‘Independent Left’
--Part Two in a Series on “Exploring Electoral Alternatives"--
By Glorious Revolutionary Federation of Fortune 500 Killers
Delegates to a Glorious Revolutionary Federation of Fortune 500 Killers meeting on the Federation’s Electoral Stance have decided to endorse with no dissenting votes Ralph Nader’s presidency.
Federation members dedicated most of the meeting, however, to trashing John Kerry, opening the presentation by noting that veteran political strategist Kevin Phillips has recently pronounced Kerry’s campaign finished.
Although the Federation housed many Kerry apologists as early as three months ago, any goodwill toward the feeble Democratic nominee has all but vanished. Some of us have tried hard to play disingenuously for too long, but now We simply cannot endorse a candidate responsible for so many of the past 10 years’ squalid deeds, including:
Writing sections of the PATRIOT ACT and bragging about it (do your homework, Michael “I supported war criminal Wesley Clark for President” Moore). Note that pointing this out to Kerry supporters usually results in name-calling, denial, and pouting.
Serving as the chief legislative booster of Plan Colombia, which “defoliates” acres of Colombian farmland under the shroud of the “Drug War” and funds of which the corrupt right-wing Colombian government has diverted to thuggish paramilitary death squads and trade-union suppression.
Voting for racist-imperial war in Iraq.
Voting for racist-imperial war in Iraq, then announcing to the Democratic National Convention that “Saying there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq doesn’t make it so,” (despite having said the same thing in the buildup to war), then declaring that he would have voted for the Iraq war anyway even without WMDs.
Pledging to strengthen the imperialist NATO alliance, not repudiating the preemptive war doctrine, and claiming that the criticism of Bush conduct on Iraq should revolve around Kerry’s ability to wage the war BETTER rather than wage it in the first place.
Voting for the 1996 Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act, which limits the amount of time for federal prisoners to file an appeal to six to 12 months, often wholly inadequate, especially in death-penalty cases.
Not bothering to show up for the Healthy Forests Initiative, disastrous environmental legislation to “thin” millions of acres of forest.
Not pledging to fully repeal the Bush tax cuts, and in fact, portraying Howard Dean’s pledge to do so as counterproductive to the creation of a “middle-class.” What about the poor working-class, huh, John Kerry?!!?!
Portraying himself as a “war HERO” in another UNheroic racist-imperialist war and calling such behavior “defense” of the country. Defense? From whom? More like raping, killing, and giving Vietnamese villagers toxic disease.
Is a homophobic reactionary bigot who will not support legalization of gay marriage.
The Federation cannot support a candidate whose anti-intellectual followers refuse to confront the record above, who indeed are often not familiar with it or deny it exists, and who attempt to assassinate the character of those who point these aspects out.
The Federation has thus decided to endorse RALPH NADER, independent candidate for President. In the coming weeks, Federation Theoreticians and Theoretician-Consultants will explore the nuances of the position and offer counterarguments to Kerry-Edwards apologists’ drivel.
Ralph Nader is the only candidate who:
will push for single-payer healthcare
will push for Afro-American reparations
will repeal the Bush tax cuts
will withdraw from Iraq
will repudiate the doctrine of preemptive war
will work to repeal the Patriot Act and the 1996 Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act
will push to transfer redundant and corrupt Pentagon spending into civilian spending in job-creating public works projects
will repeal the Taft-Hartley Act
will pass aggressive legislation against corporate crime, force private corporations to pay their fair share of taxes, and end asymmetrical government subsidies to private corporations who fail to fill their public obligations
