Time to Think 'Outside the Ballot Box'
Join Press Action tomorrow, Saturday, October 16 at “Outside the Ballot Box: Election 2004 and Beyond” and get the lowdown on what cable news isn’t telling you this presidential election season and why working for social/political change beyond the voting booth is vitally important.
This event, free and open to the public, starts at 5 p.m. at the Lyon Park Community Center in Arlington, Virginia (414 North Fillmore Street). Arrive early—lots of books will be available for you to buy at tremendous discounts and get signed by the authors. You’ll also have an opportunity to participate in an extensive question-and-answer session with the featured speakers.
People arriving in town for this weekend’s Million Worker March should make plans to attend “Outside the Ballot Box” as the perfect warm-up for the big march on Sunday.
You’ll also have an opportunity to win some great door prizes, including a copy of an Arundhati Roy DVD. The three-hour DVD includes Roy’s fabulous speech, titled “Instant-Mix Imperial Democracy,” delivered in New York City’s Riverside Church. Attendees also will have a chance to win a copy of filmmaker Christine Rose’s just-released “Liberty Bound,” a film that explores the question, Is the United States bound for liberty—or does it just have liberty bound? These plus other prizes will be handed out.
If you want to participate in this exciting event instead of waiting to watch it on C-Span’s Book-TV, join us in Arlington this Saturday.
