PA Feedback: Wayward Democrats, ANSWER and Dershowitz

Nader’s Raiders

It would be worthwhile to point out that in Florida exit polls 13% of Democrats voted for Bush. Nader wasn’t the problem.

Mark,

Although I normally agree with you on most issues, on this occasion I must side with Jean M. of Hampton Bay who has said all I wanted to say but is much more articulate. Of course being Australian I cannot vote in the US but if I could I would HAVE to support ‘whichever candidate is put forward by the Democratic party’. And Jean M., you are so right: “... the Bush Administration has to be replaced, surely you can see that. Four more years of this disaster appears to be the complete end of the US as I used to know it.” And not just the complete end of the US but of the whole world as we used to know it.

Dershowitz’s Reversal of Fortune

What Tanweer Akram writes is nonsense. So far as I can discern, every one of the allegedly copied quotes also all appear together in numerous other sources - including some on the Internet. In other words, the quoted materials are part and parcel of any argument on the subject in question. This does not make Dershowitz’s position good or bad. However, such refutes the plagiarism charge.

A Partnership for Uncivil Justice?

"Does holding a permit for a particular piece of real estate on the Washington mall give the permit-holder the right to evict those with whom it disagrees? Apparently so, according to the U.S. Park Police."

I would like to know his Park Police source. Upon questioning, US Park Police media spokesman Sergeant Scott Fear told me that the permit holder doesn’t even have the right to ASK others to leave. If they feel that others are being disruptive, they must go to the nearest Park Police officers and ask that the interlopers be removed. Park Police will then make their own determination as to the appropriate action.

The ANSWER Sturmabteilung were clearly committing illegal acts when they put their hands on the PWs and their signs period.

Mark Hand responds: I did not see any of ANSWER’s neon yellow-vested security personnel put their hands on any of the ProtestWarrior members. I did see the ANSWER security personnel form a line and then move toward the ProtestWarrior group in an attempt to guide them away from the permitted rally area. As I said in my article, the ANSWER leaders asked a U.S. Park Police officer to remove the ProtestWarrior group from the area. The police officer obliged. He warned the ProtestWarriors to leave the area or else face arrest. From my vantage point, the ProtestWarriors were not being disruptive, unless you define disruptive as a person holding a sign with a message that many people around that person may find objectionable.
