Dave Zirin while using the backdrop of sports hold a mirror to these problematic issues to the whole of U.S. society. Clearly there is a lot of racism depicted among the prodominately white male sport writers and the press in general however he also depicts the racism among the quaint women’s tennis circuit that is a reflection of why “feminism” is a failure as an ideology in the U.S.
One would think that in this arena where “women” have had to struggle to obtain recognition and respect that they would be more sensitive and welcoming to women of color—not so. Race/Class is still shown to be the great divide and that there is no solidarity among “women”. Too bad.
