  1. You’re not being too negative at all. Slavery...as per the fifth paragraph up from the bottom...is not over, of course...to add just one more coal to the fire.  But...no...so many of the things you touch upon --so well, I might add-- have a lot to do with why there’s a 75 to 25 shot that there will be bloodshed related to the Olympics (not necessarily in Greece)...before the false flame dies.  Blessings in solidarity, “Hi” Diving Ox

  2. I noticed that Palestine and Cuba received huge ovasions during the parade, however, the American announcers were either confused or simply ignored the cheer.

  3. Great and accurate piece of writing.

  4. Dave Zirin’s piece on the weekend Counterpunch is worth reading in this regard.  He highlights the death of the 150 Olympic workers who died as a result of rushing to get the monstrosity together in time...and the homeless who were shuffled away to die their lonely deaths...for public purposes...out of the limelight.  And...on the note I brought up above about potential violence...buildings ARE being blown up...which are not being reported...in protest; thus far buildings w/o people have been chosen, however. One thing that is not kept in mind is that --as per a recent C-Span speech by Muslim expert Habek-- al-Qaeda, contrary to popular opinion, is not in the business of blowing up “the big events” that we’re always running to protect.  They may get into that realm, but on their own terms if matters coincide with their overall goals.  As per Habek’s speech (I may have spelled her name incorrectly), the blowing up of the 200 plus people in Spain recently had zero to do with the elections --contrary to what was written-- as it had been planned for over two years prior to the events in Iraq that supposedly were of concern to al-Qaeda operatives.  The point being...the “terrorists” can always find a huge gathering to hit...but they’re not going to follow our schedule of events as they have a much larger agenda at hand...which doesn’t make things like the RNC in NYC a particular concern of theirs.  Still...we must be reminded that until fundamental issues --including al-Qaeda religious concerns in and of themselves-- are addressed...things will necessarily get worse.

  5. I also found the banal commentary during opening ceremony tortuous, and was especially infuriated, when the ONE moment I was actually looking forward to, Bjork singing, was totally ruined by their incessant babble! ARGH! Shut up Katie!!! Let me listen! They need to broadcast somehow with two soundtracks so we can mute the commentary and watch the event unfold. Too bad we can’t get un-edited C-Span style coverage....

  6. Re: 4. Ox, al Queda targets.

Check out this spooky analysis. It’s just too asymetrically frightening to ignore. Of course, the Presidential candidates, Congress, and the US media are explaining this situation to the American people so we can make an informed decision about whether or not we want the CIA provoking 9-11 reduxes in perpetuity by fighting yet another secret war to the bitter ending of yet another doomed American foreign policy and puppet regime.

  7. Appreciate the gesture, Scott, even though that digital camera ad they have there was driving me nuts! Yes, of course, the Saudi regime will end...pressured by al-Qaeda and other forces, Allah not being on the side of the quislings. Forgive me for being thick, but I don’t quite see what’s spooky about the whole shebang to you. Best, Ox

  8. Oxydelic,

Spooky, spook, spy, Arlington-based security analyst writing in a foreign publication about “fusion cells” fighting a potentially “doomed cause.”

Spooky, eerie, scary, like makes your stomach jiggly just thinking about the psychotic homicidal rage that would be set of by a jihadist victory dance in downtown Riyadh.  Terrifying.

Spooky, as in Daniel doesn’t speak of poignantly about dying canaries just because Katie Couric is a dufus. He sounds like me, “unnerved” by the broader perils of profound ignorance, feeling like a stranger in his own land, and not hearing “me too,” spoken back in love often enough.

I apologize for putting my “me too” in such oblique wrapping.  Thanks for inviting the clarification, Ox, and for such a moving article, Daniel.

    Peace,

    Scott

  9. Then there is the silent victory dance, creating territorial trauma for the locals...put on by The West for a long time now.  What’s “spooky” to me is that the American public has allowed it to take place...and that...to this day...acts as if it’s only the politicians and military people who are playing the tune...its citizens not doing anything more than following the leader of the band.
