  1. Here in the US, I suggest we set as a goal zero population growth.  That means birth control, family planning, and severely restricted immigration.  300,000,000 people is enough.

Really, if we didn’t have immigration, we would probably see a population decrease.

We could be like Japan.  They have low birth rates and they hardly let anyone immigrate.

  2. Mr Environment...I, too, think that the environment should be protected but disagree with your method. I don’t believe that any one should have the power to tell someone else how many children to have or not to have. Consumption and life style are a more important problem, it seems to me. Maybe consumption should be regulated. Maybe there should be a maximum wage that anyone could collect. I like the Ben and Jerry plan - I believe that they advocated a maximum of 6 times the minimum salary paid to any employee. That would help to limit consumption.

Also, I don’t support any restrictions on immigration. I believe that all national borders should be open and we should be moving toward blurring national boundaries.

  3. When I said birth control and family planning, I didn’t mean ENFORCED birth control and family planning.  I didn’t even mean abortion.  Mainly I meant readily available access to counseling, sex education and contraception.  With lower levels of immigration, the population would stabilize without any radical action.

I realize there are some strange alliances of environmentalists and white supremacists out there, both in favor of reduced immigration.  I’m in the environmental camp, not the racist camp.  I’d like to see immigration reduced to a more sustainable level.  That might be a million people a year.  I don’t have an exact number figured out.

  4. Mr Environment...about the immigration issue. It seems to me that USA citizens have lost any moral rights on that topic. We have how many bases in how many foreign countries? In how many other countries is the CIA involved in covert actions? If the USA can go all over the globe to exploit natural resources and labor, then everyone should be not only allowed to come into this country, but they should be welcomed.
