On John Kerry

While I don’t consider it fair to compare John Kerry to Hubert Humphrey in 1968, there is a singular difference: Humphrey didn’t dare enter any primaries, John Kerry has won almost all the primaries and caucuses so far.
In fact, RFK might be the better 1968 analogy. McCarthy excited many young people and got them out into the streets of primary states, but it was RFK who, though less pure, proved to be the better candidate.

Very thoughtful article David, and I enjoyed it. With respect to your statement that “it would be better if we did not have to face (the tweedledee, tweedledum) choice and could cast a real vote for change,” there now is: Nader, for whom I will vote and volunteer. I saw him on Meet The Press this morning, and contrary to Gov. Bill Richardson, detected nothing of ego about his decision. He spoke forcefully, with integrity and idealism. He even called for a cutting of the wasteful and bloated Pentagon budget, to me, the fundamental problem in our country, and an issue you’ll hear neither of the tweedle’s raise, at least constructively. Kerry’s salute of the “greatest military ever on earth,” and his pride at “always voting for increased spending to buy the weapons that have helped us win the war on terror,”...I will be silent here before I take a sledgehammer to my computer. Vote Nader! To hell with the duopoly!

Please consider voting for Dennis Kucinich in the democratic primaries regardless of whether you plan to vote for Nader in November. He shares the same ideals as Nader. He also plans to reduce the bloated military budget by 15% and use it to fund universal pre-kindergarten and college. He voted against the war and even sued the president over this illegal war. He believes we are paying as much now for health care through private insurers as we could pay for a universal health plan that would cover everybody. He wants to get out of NAFTA & the WTO and go back to bilateral trade. He supports Roe vs. Wade and plans to create a Dept. of Peace that would instruct people on the art of diplomacy. Above all...he seems a genuine honest person, and who better to put next to Bush than an honest politician to show just what an awful liar Bush really is? Vote Dennis Kucinich!!!!!

I unfortunately left it unsaid, but of course I will. How much dimmer can it get, when Kucinich and Nader together add up to 2-3% of the electorate? Let me out, God.
