Fischer's Gambit, Accepted (by Iceland)

Iceland has no intention of honoring any attempt by the US to extradite Bobby Fischer. What would be the point of granting him citizenship?
He has also said that George Bush should be hung.

I could do without his strange anti-Semitism, but wow, he surely has the U.S. pegged.
May he have some peace and good chess in Iceland. Perhaps he could teach kids how to play. I wonder if a genius has the patience for that sort of thing.
Thanks for all the background, Mickey.

Nuggets of wisdom from the poor persecuted Bobby Fischer:
“The Jews are a ‘filthy, lying bastard people,’ bent on world domination through such insidious schemes as the Holocaust (’a money-making invention’), the mass murder of Christian children (’their blood is used for black-magic ceremonies’), and junk food (William Rosenberg, the founder of Dunkin’ Donuts, is singled out as a culprit).”On Sept. 11, 2001, Bobby Fischer told a Philippine radio station that the attacks on the US were “wonderful news.” He added that he hoped “the country will be taken over by the military, they’ll close down all the synagogues, arrest all the Jews and secure hundreds of thousands of Jewish ringleaders.”
He also calls the Jews “garbage people” and “snake-like.”
The man cannot string two sentences together without insulting the Jews.

I don’t see why anyone would wish him peace. He’s a virulent racist whose only redeeming value (such as it is) is he played some good chess thirty years ago.
To get a good feel for Mr. Fisher, read this transcript of an interview he gave to a radio station in the Phillipines:

His hatred of Jews and the US tend to overshadow the fact that he also hates blacks, communists, Russians, Japan and almost every other place he has ever lived. It won’t be long before he’s bad mouthing Iceland.
Like Al Capone, Fisher is learning that failure to pay your taxes is a very serious problem. The IRS has filed criminal tax evasion charges, and the facts don’t seem to be in dispute. Fisher has been bragging for years about how he beat the IRS.

“Al Capone was a wonder of the age. It should be pointed out that Capone was the ‘generous’ gangster. He actually helped build Cicero and Chicago projects, gave to the needy, helped the elderly, and was great with kids. While he may have consciously did this for improving his image, he did try to be an active member of the community. He liked sports, baseball, boxing, and horse racing. He gave away a lot of his ill-gotten gains, and it was part of the defence for his tax evasion trial. But Capone ultimately went to prison for tax evasion, and died in 1947 from complications arising from syphilis.”
Al Capone was more than met the eye.
One thing that this world can do without is more taxes. The US government has been collecting taxes to support wealthy people for far too long at the expense and burden of those who can ill-afford to pay.
Maybe Mr. Fischer isn’t the most friendly cuss on the city street, but your friendly US government doesn’t mind bombing Iraq into submission and killing 1.1 million souls over a 15 year period. Maybe the US government is incorrigibly corrupt and criminal. I won’t pass judgement, but I am a little suspicious.
There is a need to re-evaluate priorities. Chasing Bobby Fischer across the planet is entirely unnecessary.
