  1. Nice article, Mickey. Thanks for it. Your closing quote is very timely tonight ...thinking about the Terry Schiavo case.

  2. With all due respect Rosemarie, I’m not sure what the Terry Shiavo case has to do with the price of beans in China.  It’s a distraction, typical of the corporate media, nothing else.  There was a spoof on Counterpunch yesterday the Worldwide Federation for Feeding Tubes for the Starving, which petitioned the UN to require all those billions in the world who are starving to be required to be kept on feeding tubes until food should become available.  Typical of the corporate media to concentrate on one peculiar case and in the process let the majority go unspoken for.

  3. Tracy, I realize that my view is not widely accepted and thanks for your comment on my comment. Yes, the Schiavo case is being politicized, sadly. I have 2 major problems with the argument that Terry should not be fed or hydrated. 1, I don’t believe in the infallibility of doctors and there is not agreement on her prognosis or even the diagnosis. 2, She is a living human being and pulling the feeding tube on her puts all of us on a slippery slope.  Also, I have a strong belief in the santity of life...not necessarily a religious view but a philosophical view that no one should destroy what they cannot create.  Sorry to disagree with you, my friend. I know that I am in the minority on this one.
