I liked this article. As I see it, leftists and progressives should primarily be concerned with:
(1) Truth, justice, fairness, human dignity.
(2) The environment.
(3) Freedom of speech, thought, movement, choice, livelihood, etc.
(4) Eradication of poverty, illiteracy, intolerance, suffering.
I’m not vegetarian, except as an environmental issue. My only concern with steak is to avoid environmental damage.
Still, I’m glad to see articles like this. I think progressives have gotten sidetracked from their core issues and values, so that they are often found cozying up to people and states that share none of their values. I’m tired of seeing progressives use up their limited energies defending Iran, the Taliban, the Serbs, David Irving and other Holocaust deniers, etc. Their are so many worthwhile issues. It’s a shame to get sidetracked.
