Using that old adage about the definition of insanity being “doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results” is useful when talking about the military budget.

I also have my doubts that disaster in the U.S. would change much. I suspect that the current administration would just identify an external enemy and virtually of the blame would be directed at it.

Also, on the issue of education, right-wing folks are always quick to claim that you can’t solve the problems of education by “just throwing money at the problem.” I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard people say this in arguments over inequitable school funding. The “small government” mantra of conservatives goes out the window when you start talking about the military.
