  1. It’s not encouraging that this issue is coming up again.  John Dean had already spoken out for impeachment, as mentioned in the article, but no one took him up on it.  Today we have ‘proof’, as if real crimes are the only cause for impeachment.  So who in the Democratic Party has the backbone to stand up for justice?
I’ve asked my congressman, Elijah Cummings of Maryland and chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, this past summer and his office’s response was needing more study.
It is never too late to call for impeachment unless one is more interested in watching the political calendar than watching more coalition soldiers and Iraqi civilians die.
Congressman Cummings, you were born with a backbone. Please use it.  Do what fellow Maryland Senator Sarbanes did 30 years ago.  He broke the ice and began Nixon’s impeachment.
Failure to act on this, for any Democrat or honorable Republican, will condemn you to history as an accomplice to war crimes.

  2. I am not, nor will I, run for public office.  This lie of GW’s has sent people to their deaths.  far more impeachable offense than Clinton’s.  The mere thought that enough people will for for GW as a bit terrifying.  Thinking people MUST vote.

  3. Thinking people MUST do something in addition to voting...and as a priority...with all due respect to EHall.  The main thing wrong with anything to do with impeachment proceedings is that the “effort” contributes to the notion that the Dems are not genocidists, war criminals, etc.  Would that people would be as taken aback, horrified, at the prospect of Nancy Pelosi becoming the First Female Speaker of the House as they are of four more years of Bush. Let’s have the Press Action crowd comment on that...AND...take action.  I’m still open for volunteers/referrals re the Leno/Letterman thing.

  4. Richy… Can we also IMPEACH the Congress which voted to turn over the power to declare war to the Executive Branch.  That was a dereliction of the duty of Congress, and a violation of the Constitution. ALL OF THEM NEED TO BE HELP ACCOUNTABLE. Think about what it would do the election, if it was announced now, that Impeachment proceedings were under consideration.  PEACE, rosemarie

  5. I don’t think impeachment proceedings would do diddely re the elections; any response would be evened out in the wash b. pro and con Bushites, if that’s the count you’re counting on. Again, we have a potential for draining of energy that needs to be devoted to confrontations that people are shying away from, avoiding. “Derilection of duty” is a litigous term that doesn’t count much in the real world of trying to hold Big Criminals accountable; for accountability...you’re going to have to consider confronting the criminals outside of the judicial system OR, at least, simultaneous with legal proceedings (which are unlikely to produce the results you want).

  6. OK, I agree with you. I have considered “confronting the criminals”.  For a few years, I have advocated that someone, anyone, should do Citizens Arrests of them, but they are all so well protected and insulated from the rest of us that that will never be possible.  With the right set of circumstances, I think that the Courts are one option, while many other things are going on simultaneously. It is OK to have many different plans.  Hopefully one of them will work and benefit humanity. The main thing, is to get everyone doing something.  Everyone has a different set of talents to bring to the table.  PEACE, rosemarie
