Churchill’s is not the only campus voice that has been silenced. Check out the latest William Blum Anti-Empire Report, dated May 21, 2006.
“... University officials are also conservative, or can easily be bullied by campus conservative organizations which are part of a well-financed national campaign (think David Horowitz) to attack the left on campus, be they faculty, students or outside speakers. Since the bin Laden recommendation, January 19, I have not been offered a single speaking engagement on any campus; a few students have tried to arrange something for me but were not successful at convincing school officials. This despite January-May normally being the most active period for me and other campus speakers....” Blum

My younger brother left Howard Zinn’s A Peoples History of the United States on my bookshelf one day and it caught my eye. I ended up reading it straight through in a few days.

I think you should have that contest anyway, Rosemarie. Maybe not to find if there is a mistake, but to let more people know that the US has been inviting “blowback” since its creation.

JOS...Thanks for the comment. I agree that it is a good idea for a contest. The problem is that I never found the time to do the fund raising so that good prizes would be possible. I am still hoping and maybe someone who reads this will take up the idea. I also am hoping that ALL military recruits and their mothers/fathers will be given a copy of Zinn’s history. Problem is, I have too many ideas and too little money to be effective.

whatever the outcome, it is important to respect the decision of Churchill’s peers. Unless someone can show this is an unfair forum, this decision should be respected. Churchill appears to have made some serious errors for a scholar,including misrepresentation of himself as a Native American. Ihave an open mind, and if the evidence is otherwise, I accept it. Everyone should view this based on whatever evidence there is, not on disagreement w/churchill on issues (me) or agreement(perhaps many of your).

feller...Thanks for your comment. We ARE Churchill’s peers. To me a scholar is someone who raises the level of understanding of those around him. Churchill has certainly done that better than anyone I can think of. He has done a great service to humanity by exposing historical information that few others in the academic community will even approach.

Most of Churchill’s critics have had to resort to ad hominam attacks. Is the exact percentage of his Native American blood relevant...what is Native American blood anyway? Nothing could be less important, it seems to me. We don’t need red herrings. We need the USA to get out of denial, admit the evils of the past and present, and pay reparations.
Churchill has enough Indian heritage to be supported by the Colorado American Indian site. Here is a link to the petition in support of him on that site.
