‘I Don’t Have Any Goals for Votes…’: An Interview with David Cobb

He says that he won a majority of the delegates votes, but he sidesteps the fact that the vast majority of the rank and file did not want him for the nomination. He also brushes off the nomination process by saying that it was “three months ago:, if he is for grassroots democracy, then he should be as concerned as those who are raising the issue of the unfair nomination process.
He does not address how the make up and will of the delegates do not in any way reflect the will of the rank and file.
His response is disappointing, but not surprising.
Time to start a new party.

Cobb puts primacy on building an organization, which isn’t bad so far as it goes, but I would say that the more important goal of any independent/third party campaign that has no shot of winning is to convince people that they should look outside the two largest parties. A great organization can’t do much when 90 or so percent of the population thinks you are crazy.

David should have written “I look forward to seeing this interview published in its entirety, with a really misleading title.” It reminds me of Joshua’s first hit piece: “I wouldn’t lead… an interview with Eugene Debs.”
