‘Eco-terrorism’ is an ungainly stretch of the English language and, as a word, pales beside what environmental activists oppose: ecocide.

Hmmm ... Steve Best was demoted last month and is no longer the chair of his department at UTEP. If he lies about his job in his own biographical blurb, why should we trust any of this?

Dr. Steve Best was out of the country at the time and unable to testify. After the hearing began, Professor Best was removed from his post as Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Texas, El Paso. </quote>
according to that site he was removed while being publicly berated for standing up for his beliefs
makes the war on dissent claim more trustworthythe UTEP faculity page still lists him as chair
oddly enough!?! Hmmm......

Mr. Best is best when he is hypercritical and full of venom. No matter that what he writes is off-base and out of touch with realitiy. Example, he criticizes the FBI for “ignoring the real threats of violence that stem from right-wing hate groups.” Federal authorities have made great strides in detecting, countering and so-called right-wing violence—witness the last ricin arrests.
On the other hand, Mr. Best ignores the hard evidence that certain animal and evironmental groups are taking part in terrorism—they have targeted and “hit” both persons and property—often in very indiscriminate ways.
Recently, the UK ALF left a car bomb at the wrong address. Opps. Luckily, the innocent party saw it and reported it. It apparently had malfunctioned. Just imagine, if you will, that this incendary device had gone off at night, causing the car in the carport, to set the house on fire....and the children inside had died.
Isolated incident? Hardly. Several years ago, animal rights extremists put another car bomb...on the wrong car.
What about the assassination of Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn? Gunned down by van der Graaf—a well known animal rights activist - police also found that he had a cache of bomb-making material (sulphuric and hydrochloric acid, condoms filled with potassium chloride and sugar, and a timer.)
But, wait there is more—van de Graaf is also suspected of another killing in 1996, in which an Dutch environmental officer was shot while jogging Van de Werken and van der Graaf had clashed before, with van der Graaf believing that the environmental officer was far too accommodating to farmers in the area.
While the press reported the Muslim connection to van de Graaf’s murder, one might want to remember the full admission by him: ““…considerable danger to the weaker groups in society”, namely Muslims, asylum seekers, immigrants and animals. And that the only way to stop him was to kill him.”
Of course, PETA is on the ropes now. First, they give money to convicted bombers. Then, they are found to be killing animals on a wholesale basis. Now, their staffers have been arrested for dumping dead animals....
Not all those who speak out for animals are terrorists or threats. The nation knows this. The FBI knows this. Witness the hundreds of demonstrations a year in which no one is arrested and no one is beatened.
But, with extremeists hiding in protest groups...and these groups NOT turning them in… it makes the hunt for the bombers, the arsonists, the assassins and would-be assassins much more difficult.
