  1. Jordy, I must admit I fear these nutbars more than anybody else out there who may disagree. I have a little something to add to this discussion…

More than a month ago, an insulting message turned up on my blog messageboard, including the following word in the post: Aish.

I didn’t know what this meant, so I did a Google search: it came back with Aish HaTorah, an ultra-Orthodox Jewish organization. It was started in Jerusalem by Rabbi Noah Weinberg in 1974. Aish HaTorah fronts Hasbara Fellowships on American universities and they are into pro-Israel activism (Aish HaTorah considers itself “apolitical"). Incidentally, there is a large Aish HaTorah chapter in Toronto.

Here’s what Anton Chaitkin writes about Aish HaTorah:

“Likud money conduit and propaganda agency. Posing as an Orthodox Jewish religious group, Aish HaTorah is a sophisticated psychological center garnering major contributions for the Likud/extreme right apparatus. Among important donors are actor Kirk Douglas and talk show host Larry King. Aish HaTorah’s headquarters is in East Jerusalem, and it has offices in New York and Los Angeles. According to the Israeli Labor Party’s current General Secretary, Knesset Member Ofir Pines-Paz, Aish HaTorah is suspected of acting as a secret channel illegally funding Netanyahu.

Aish HaTorah runs HonestReporting.com, a McCarthyite Internet police organization created to attack American critics of the Likud war policies. This operation mobilized hard and fast to kill the 2001 “Israeli art students” espionage scandal related to the Sept. 11 attacks, after that story was broken by EIR and by Fox News in December 2001.

One aspect of the Aish HaTorah money flow is the group’s Jerusalem Fund, created in 1992 in conjunction with Jersualem Mayor Ehud Olmert. It is part of Olmert’s complex of dirty-money Likud front organizations, including his own New Jerusalem Fund, which raises political cash from Armageddon-seeking Christians in America.”

So what, a nasty message on my blog, nothing new ... and then I received a phone call, at work, the same day, repeating the insult contained in the message on the messageboard. I was not threatened directly, except for the childish insult, but the unspoken message was clear: we know where you work, we have your work telephone number.

It makes sense, considering Anton Chaitkin’s research.

  2. Aish Ha Torah are like Israeli moonies, they are a charismatic cult that is used for recruitement, etc.  My friend M, travelling in Israel after spending too much time in Amsterdam, so to speak, was kidnapped by them and his folks had to hire a deprogrammer.  They are very dangerous.

  4. Jordy,
First of all, I haven’t been hired by anyone to monitor anyone.  And I didn’t say that your buddy Kurt was mentally ill.  I said he was crazy.  Nuts.  Spewing out weird ideas with no logic or sense or factual support, but a whole lot of anger.  So I’m not employing Soviet style intimidation tactics, as you thought.  I’m just disagreeing with his position.  No one is out to get you or him, at least not me.

It so happens that his biggest whopper, the one I talked about most, had nothing to do with Israel or Zionism.  He has this Timothy McVeigh-like theory that the U.S. government is about to impose a fascist police state complete with martial law, the draft and possible food rationing.  It’s weird, admit it.  It’s kind of crazy, right?

If Mr. Nimmo is going to post strange, angry and often offensive articles in a public forum, it’s only natural that members of the public (such as myself) should respond.  I’m not part of the Zionist silencing machine.  There is no such thing.

As for your own experiences, all I can say is that Israel is very, very dear to a lot of people.  I haven’t been reading your articles, but if you spend a lot of time calling Israelis and Zionists Nazis, murderers, criminals, sociopaths and racists like Mr Nimmo does, you can expect an unfavorable reaction from people.

I note that one of the articles you cite in your article has a rather offensive joke about Orthodox Jews.  Your fellow Jews don’t like it when you post jokes about them.  If you were a Catholic posting Catholic jokes, they wouldn’t like it either.  There’s no conspiracy Jordy.

  5. Kurt,
For a little while, you were starting to sound reasonable, but no more.  You see weird conspiracies everywhere!

You say I’m ill informed, but what of you?  You’re always talking about the Middle East, but you don’t know any Arabic or Hebrew!  What’s with that?  Aish means fire in both Arabic and Hebrew.  Aish HaTorah means Fire of the Torah.  It’s a biblical phrase.

Why don’t you go look at the Aish web page before you spew all these weird conspiracy stories?  http://www.aish.com.  They teach basic Judaism to Jews who don’t know much about Judaism.  So if Jordy wanted to know more about that new mezzuzah he bought, he could go there.  If he wants to know more about keeping kosher, he could find a few articles and stories.  They have some songs and coloring books for kids.

So no one at Aish HaTorah is murdering Palestinians or stalking you.  Get a better grip on reality.  And the phrase ultra-Orthodox is offensive to Orthodox Jews.

You say I’m a slave to “the corporate media” but you can’t even read ANY of the original sources.  What do you know of Islam, anyhow?  Can you tell me the difference between Druze, Allawi and Shiite beliefs?  I doubt it.  Get better informed, Kurt.

  6. Andrew, you didn’t receive the phone call, I did. It was not imaginary. Granted, it was not life threatening, and I mention that in my response. Nonetheless, although I have been writing what you consider offensive stuff for years now, nobody has ever bothered to call me on the phone, at work, and say ugly things. It’s strange you would say nobody is “stalking” me; I didn’t say anybody was, I said they called me and said ugly, insulting things. Big difference. Please try to follow the discussion a bit closer.

I don’t need to speak Hebrew or Arabic to understand what’s going on in the Middle East. I mean, this is plain nonsensical. It’s irrational. It’s like saying I’d need to know the Ossetian language to comprehend what happened at that Beslan school. I mean, talk about getting a grip.

I challenge you to find one instance where I called the Israelis Nazis. Stop making things up. It’s not going to earn you any brownie points. In fact, I don’t call anybody a Nazi—except Nazis, circa 1932-1945, and the idiots in this country who like to parade around with swastikas and funny mustaches.

Whatever. I’m probably putting way too much mileage on my keyboard with this stuff.

  7. I happened upon this site by accident, and won’t be visiting it again.

I love to read articles written by Antisemites or self-hating Jews, about the Jewish people.

I don’t know anything about Jordy, but claiming to buy a Mezuzah for his door means nothing!

When anyone quotes Norman Finklestein, a virulent self-hating Jew and revisionist historian, you know that everything they have to say, it irrelevant!

Jew haters from all over the world love to use quotes by self-hating Jews, although they never mention the fact that these people hate their own culture.  It’s like having a Satanist discuss Christian faith!

I have been to many services at Aish, and have never once been privy to a single discussion of politics!

In conclusion, reading material from Jew haters always makes me sad.  Not as a Jew, but I feel sorry for the Antisemite and the malicious life they lead.  I also mourn for their children who will suffer for their irrational hate!

Remember that the Jews have survived all their enemies!  The enemies of the Jews throughout history are gone, but we Jews remain and we remain strong!  Everyone is free to support the righteous Jews, or to spew hatred based on lies.  G-d gave all mankind this choice, and a number of you have chosen the side of evil!

  9. what is a SELF HATING jew?  i’m sure they don’t hate themselves maybe they hate the policys of israel or the likud manner of furthering hate in the mid east maybe they are self loveing jews who point to the way of peace for israel

  10. Thanks Jose....

The concept of “self hating Jew” is so nonsensical as to be ludicrous.  In fact the only self-hating Jews were Herzl and other founders of the Zionist movement, who boght into the European concept of Anti-Semitism - that is that Jews were idle, they didn’t “work the land” and thus had to be “Transformed” into a new Jew in “a land without a people.” Ze’ev Jabotinsky was in many ways fiercely Anti-Semitic, when he and other Hebraicists inveighed against Yiddish culture and its attendat socialist values.

A modern equivalent is David Horowitz who wastes no time in defending Mel Gibson’s Anti-Semitic film The Passion whilst using Anti-Semitic language against “AntiChristian” Hollywood Jews, abortionists, New York liberals, etc.  And Michael Savage, also Jewish, has, according to FAIR regularly used Anti-Semitic language.

Zionism was a bourgeois nationalist movement at best, and served capital in that it diverted the primarily left wing Jews away from economic solidarity and back to a post-secular nationalism.  And as Lenni Brenner has pointed out, the Zionists have holocaust blood on their hands.

  11. Jordy, sorry to see the old “self-hating Jew” canard used against you. It is just impossible to reason with people who view principled opposition to POLITICAL issues as some sort of personal pathology. It’s irrational. But then, I suppose, this is the only weapon they have.

For instance, when I am called anti-Semitic, it really does not bother me because it is a racial term. Opposition to POLITICAL Zionism is not racial, therefore the slander is baseless. It’s silly and easily dismissed. People who use the term when not describing racists are disingenuous, to say the least. Using RACIAL terms to describe POLITICAL points of view is stupid. If I disagreed with Thomas Jefferson on the Constitution, would that mean I hate white people? No.

Interesting that the post above spews so much venom in Norman Finklestein’s direction. Is Finklestein a “revisionist historian”? I read his “Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict” and I would say he is anything but a “revisionist historian.” Now Joan Peters is a revisionist historian (or maybe a historian who builds an argument against the Palestinians on omission). Anyway, Finklestein is one of the most principled scholars I can think of. Calling him a “self-hating Jew” is less than stupid--it’s brain dead. Can the critics of Finklestein refute his argument that the solution to the presence of Palestinians by the Israeli state is transfer--in other words, ethnic cleansing? Even Benny Morris admits this. More and more documentary evidence supports the fact that Israel has systematically expelled Palestinians. It’s not revisionism. It’s historical fact.

More and more, I support the one-state solution, or a binational state. Of course, Israelis would say it’s none of my business---and this would be true if the American taxpayer didn’t pay billions of dollars a year to prop up the Israeli state. So, in a way, I have a vested interest in solving the Palestine-Israel problem--in a way, I own part of Israel.

No doubt this admission will drive Israel supporters crazy.

  12. It’s amazing to see so many fools posting here.  Anyone who claims to respect the writings of Norman FInklestein is truly deluded.  There are literally hundreds of well-respected Jewish and gentile historians that will tell you that facts and Mr. Finklestein have nothing in common!

Literally there are hundres of self-hating Jews around.  Noam Chomsky, though brilliant in his scientific field, is the premier self-hating Jew of that latter part pf the 20th century.

If you listen to Mr. Choimsky, “Israel is the cause of the world;s evil.” Not only is this patently Antisemitic -which has nothing to do with race, but is really a reference to a set of languages.  The statement from Chomsky that, “Israel is an illegal country” is disingenuous.  Yes Arabs were displaced, no argument, but more Jews were forcibly displaced from Arab countries after 1948, than Arabs who promarily left their homes willingly, to wait for the total Jewish annihilation.  Of course this didn’t work and the Arabs in the territory of Palestina have suffered by their intansigence ever since.

You should also remember that Jews since Herzel, were buying large plots of land from Arabs, willing to sell, not from Palestinians, as this is a country that never, ever existed!  The Arabs in the territory of Palestina, were Arabs just like those in Jordan, Lebannon, and Syria!

Zionism in its original form was to create a single Jewish homeland.  The British, which contolled large portions of the middle-east promised the Jews a homeland, the Balfour Declaration, for their help with the British in World War 1!

After the war, the British told the Jews “to go to hell”, and we never forgot the broken promises.  When the Jews, after the Holocaust were in a position where we could send a “message” to the British, we took out the King David hotel, which was being used as a military command post for the British.

So regardless of where you people bought your GEDs, there is Antisemitism, which is plain Jew Hatred, the world over, and many self-hating Jews, some of which call themselves historians!

BTW, Joan Peters book, “From Time Immemorial”, has recived all types of acclaim from intellectuals and legitimate historians!

The idiots, that I am sure you people admire, like David Irving, the world’s most useless human being and Holocaust revisionist extraordinare.  Who by the way, lost a civil lawsuit against Debora Lipstadt, a well-received and very well-respected Jewish historian!

Finkelstein, Chomsky and Irving are losers!  Humanity has no need for this trash!

  13. A marvellous article that shows clearly how emboldened the fanatic Zionists have become. I see the currently thriving state of fanaticism as a product of the general shift to the right among opinion makers since the 1960s. I don’t think we can take on the fanatics head on, therefore. We need to regenerate a leftwing political culture so that no one listens to, let alone feels intimidated by, these new Nazis.

  14. Jordy wrote this in #10…

“The concept of “selfhating Jew” is so nonsensical as to be ludicrous.  In fact the only self-hating Jews were Herzl and other founders of the Zionist movement,...”

So the concept of a self-hating Jew is nonsensical according to Jordy, the genius!  Them he follows that up with, “the only self-hating Jews were Herzl and other founders of the Zionist movement”

Gee, Jordy it seems to me you are directly contradicting yourself!

First you deny the concept and then you place the moniker on a number of Jewish people.

This tells me that you need to return to Sears and register for a refresher course to the GED you purchased.  LOL!!

To Georgie-O you are a Nazi moron!

Israel does receive more aid money, from the USA, than any other country.  If you survey portions of the US military complex, they will surely tell you that Israel, having used American made weaponry in many conflicts, have provided the military with very valuable feedback.  This may not conver the entire allotment to Israel over the years, but the US receives far more from Issrael than any other country.  Plus when American made weapons are purchased with American aid, the money comes back to the US to keep middle-class people employed!

In addition, your friends in the Arab countries are not contributing much to society in the 21st centiury.  If you look at Israel, you will see that a majority of US high-tech companies have technology and research centers based in Israel, not the Arab countries!  The Israelis are contributing new technologies in medicine, software, nanotechnology, weaponry, remote piloted reconnaissance, etc.

The Uited States give money to our enemies, but I don’t notice the idiots in this blog complaining about their tax dollars going to our enemies.

When you single out the Jews for contempt, and you ignore similar actions done by other groups, you are an Antisemite!  On this, there can be no argument!

  16. Seems a lot of apologists for Israel’s rightwing are posting on this forum lately. After reading the posts, I came across the following news article:
    New party urges non-Jews’ expulsion.

“Dozens of right-wing Israeli leaders have announced the creation of a new political party which founders say will be dedicated to the expulsion of millions of Muslims and Christians from Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. ... Taking part in the ceremony were many leaders of the officially outlawed but effectively tolerated Kach group such as Baruch Marzel and Hen Ben Elyahu. ... According to Ben Elyaho, a co-founder of the new party, the expulsion of non-Jews from Israel would ‘resolve all of Israel’s political, economic and social problems’ ... ‘Our party calls for cleansing the region extending from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean from the Goyem [derogatory for non-Jews] and thus guaranteeing a Jewish majority of no less than 90% throughout the Land of Israel,’ he said.”

Lovely. Of course, the Likud Party currently running Israel only disagrees by a small matter of degree.

“[Professor Era] Sharkansky [of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem] suggested to Aljazeera.net that the current political environment in Israel was increasingly conducive to the growth of Kach, in light of the near takeover of the Likud by right-wing extremists who oppose the planned withdrawal from Gaza, the dismantling of Jewish settlements and the creation of a Palestinian state in the West Bank.”

Can you imagine the KKK here in America gaining this much support? Can you imagine millions of Americans supporting and celebrating the bombing of African-American churches the way thousands of Israelis support and celebrate what Baruch Goldstein did at the Ibrahimi mosque in central Hebron in 1994? Can you imagine a virulent racist such as Meir Kahana—who preached non-stop ethnic cleansing—gaining a seat in the Senate (he was elected to the Knesset)?

Israeli society will eventually implode, just like the white South African society imploded. And even if it doesn’t, there is the “demographic factor,” i.e., Palestinians have more babies than Israelis. Of course, the latter is why we hear so much about “transfer,” supported by a large number of Israelis, because they realize there will eventually be more Palestinians than Israelis and they are frantic to do something about it.

It won’t work. Israelis will be forced to live with the Palestinians.

And then the apologists who post here will be, thankfully, an irrelevancy.

  17. The bile from Jeffrey Levine. To pick up one point: ‘When the Jews, after the Holocaust, were in a position where we could send a “message” to the British, we took out the King David hotel…

‘Took out’? How quaint. Just as Al Qaeda ‘took out’ the World Trade Centre [a justifiable target].

Notice the way ‘Jews’ becomes ‘we’. Suppose I referred to ‘we, the Gentiles?’

Taking a tangent: Kurt reminded us: ‘...the American taxpayer pay billions of dollars a year to prop up the Israeli State...’

Imagine...The US decided to give this money to Palestine as reparation. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful gesture? It’ll never happen. Why? Discuss.

Posted by Ed Strong from  on  09/12  at  04:52 PM
  18. Unfortunately money given to aid Palestine ends up on Suha Arafat’s Herrod’s bill.  The last place to aid Palestine is through its Israeli gendarmes in the PA, which the EU keeps afloat to the detriment of Palestine (notice I am not doing the whole Israeli “Arafat needs to be deported..” I am saying that Arafat spends aid money on his wife, not his people.)

Seriously though there should be reparations paid by the States Israel and Russia, the two countries that more than any allowed for the creation of Israel, and created the geopolitical circumstances leading to the occupation of WB and Gaza.

The reason I am wary of a one state solution NOW, as opposed to within a generation is that I believe that there needs to be some form of Palestinian independance, economic and otherwise.  I am with Chomsky on this one, and do not at all believe that the man who has done more than any non Palestinian for hte Palestinian cause is a Zionist apologist.  I am talking pragmatism...I know Finkelstien agrees on this one..  Many Palestinians I respect agree with me on this one as well.  I think that within a generation there will be one state.  I believe as well in te maintenance of Jewish institutions as part of a multicultural Palestine.  Hamas, I fear, does not.

I actually hope that Israel fails in its Gaza disengagement.  The ugly face of Zionist extremism will make at the very least Europe and Russia use military solutions, siding with the Palestinians and Jews against the Transferites…
