Living the Matrix - Can You Believe It?

Many thanks, Vince. If this is the view of the majority of Americans, it may never be necessary for the rest of the globe to affect “regime change” in the USA. Some of us would really like to continue believing in practical application of the scriptural “Do unto others ...”.

Vince.. with all due respect, WHAT HEALING??
We can sit around and sing cumbaya all we want, but this is very very far from over. In fact, we are heading into an election where we have a choice between someone who wants to expand our role in Iraq and ... someone who wants to expand our role in Iraq. We are heading into an election where we have a choice between someone who wants to expand the war on terror, and ... someone who wants to expand the war on terror.
Since you are so fond of quoting the Matrix, look at it this way-- the machines are about make their final attack upon Zion, the last city of the humans. In our world, that final assault is coming directly at people that are shouting the truth from the Internet rooftops. The war is not over, and frankly it feels like the neocons and their Zionist handlers are getting ready to try and deliver the knockout punch to Americans.
We are being softened up, and being fed lines over the last 3 years to get us ready. Tommy Franks is quoted as saying that the next terrorist attack is going to mean the end of the Constitution. Neither Bush nor Kerry is going to stop that. The next attack, it has been said, will make 9/11 look like nothing. People will be terrified and in their panic, they will give up all of their freedoms for the promise of security. They will be free to shop and free to read silly tabloids, free to watch approved news, and free to gossip with their friends about inconsequential things, and that is about it. Anything further than that, they will be branded a terrorist.
America is getting ready to attack Iran, with the same flimsy evidence that it used in the buildup to Iraq.
Healing? What healing? You’re talking about worrying about a bandaid when your leg is about to be chopped off.

I think this is unfair criticism by CyberChrist. This is a piece, very well written, that appeals to the only force that can stop the menace of the neocons and the me-too Democrats - and that is the vigilant spirit of the citizenry. I don’t at all hear this piece pointing to the electoral process as that which will effect the change it tacitly envisions, except in a passing remark to regime change. Hey look, I’m a staunch supporter of Nader and will vote for him, but as pathetic as Kerry is, his win will still be the win of a lesser evil. And no matter how miniscule, it is still a tentative, halting step in the right direction.
This is an inspiring and uplifting piece - perhaps just the urge and prompt to energize the citizenry to its necessary vigilance. If not essays such as this, what then? These are dark times, and we have to grab every straw that promises some hope. Why criticize one of those straws as represented by this essay, when there is such a plethora of evils more worthy of such criticism? Genetically modified foodstuffs, just to name one of scores or hundreds off the top of my head.
I think Vincent deserves kudos for a fine piece of writing. What are we supposed to do, tell the dreamer not to dream because the likes of Bush and Hastert and Delay and Lieberman and the others have completely fucked-up this world? More of this level of writing Vincent!

How do you square what you said at the end of paragraph #1 with what St. Clair’s laid out in the Joshua Frank interview, Trace?
