  1. Thanks, Rosemarie, and good fortune with your upcoming judgment/decision.  People need to gear up for demanding --as per Howard Zinn’s advice in DECLARATIONS OF INDEPENDENCE-- that they have decent health care. That means not depending on the electoral process for that...any more than we can depend on it for guaranteeing freedom of...speech, to cite just one other example. WHAT TO DO?  Everyone is so fond of asking that question.  Well, the first thing you have to do is acknowledge what I’m saying is true.  Next, you must address that issue with everyone you meet --where there is a civilized opening at all-- and NOT back off from your position of what needs to be done...on the streets...involving “borderline” machinations, etc. as you encourage others to be part of putting singular, unprecedented pressure on those who are keeping us unhealthy/unprotected...in many ways.  Anyone who gets that far and wants more advice...I’m open for you.  Anyone who thinks there’s an alternative, I’m interested.  Anyone who thinks that The System isn’t built to prevent such things from happening...should put in their two cents here too.  Good fortune, Richard

  2. I’ll vote Nader or stay home.  An Illinois court decision is due tomorrow as to whether Nader will be on the ballot.  If Nader costs Kerry the election, awful as Bush is, so much the better.  Maybe the Democrats will give up their Republican pantomime.
