  1. Good take. The major problem with the rhetoric coming from Nader, and which is a part of your article, is the suggestion that there are good “Dems.” Certainly some are better are some issues but the Democratic Party has never been a party of “the left.” Left elements have been a part of it but they have rarely, if ever, been the dominant force. A quick look at the record of their presidents reveals that.Instead of trying to reform or pressure the Dems, it is necessary to understand that they are an obstacle and/or a distraction.Could they in theory be remade? Sure, but it is probably no more likely to happen than the emergence of a completely new opposition party worthy of that being called such.

  2. There ARE good dems and you can count’em on both hands(Bobby Byrd, Ted Kennedy sometimes - more recently, many of the Black Caucus - Maxine Waters esp.) There is A good Republican (Ron Paul.)
