  1. I saw the movie today.

    My reaction?

I cried through the entire movie, and I could hear sniffles and see many around me wiping tears.

    Just plain and simply sad.

  2. Did Allende shoot himself or was he shot? I always thought he was assassinated. Maybe I’m wrong.

  3. The coup plotters and others say he committed suicide while others contend the military murdered him. Whatever the method of his death, the coup plotters, including the Nixon administration, are responsible for his death, just as the U.S. government is responsible for all the deaths occurring in Iraq today, including those heinous acts against Iraqis being committed by so-called terrorists.

  4. That was a mistake that others pointed out...thanks....Obviously I believe that Kissinger/Nixon et. al are responsible for his death…

  5. I think that I had that thought in the theatre, to be honest - “he looks like Allende” in the myth of him shooting himself...etc.  I am pretty sure that he was assassinated now that I check Christopher Hitchens’ Kissinger book and Blum’s Killing Hope....(he was a good writer until he lost his mind)

I think the reason that the thought manifested itself was that Gore looked either self-deluded or drugged.  Lets say he was Charles Bishop?

  6. another mistake (Hitchens was good writer until he lost his mind, not Blum, who clearly has a blliant mind)

  7. OK well I typed a long and detailed comment about what happened when I saw the movie, and I fucking lost it.  I am really annoyed, so I’m just going to summarize it:

I saw it several times and it seems lots of people from all walks of life in Texas are enjoying the movie.

  8. Justin,
What browser are you using? Are you on a Mac by chance? I am trying to figure out why some people have so much trouble posting comments. When you say you “lost it” do you mean you click Submit and it didn’t post?

A tip - if you leave the comment form filled partially in and the browser window open on your computer for more than two hours, you risk losing your comment.

  9. No mac.  I am using an older version of Internet Explorer.  Usually when I type something that long I have the sense to copy it to the clipboard in case something doesn’t work.  Naturally, the one time I trust the computer is the one time it doesn’t work.

  10. Justin,

Trust the computer? Ha! As a former software trainer I found myself having to say “hmm, that is weird” more times than I would have liked when the computer and software was acting up. You just can’t trust ‘em…

The “older” IE might be the culprit. Might want to upgrade. If the “Live Preview” isn’t working, it may be that you don’t have Javascript enabled or working correctly.

Better yet, give Mozilla Firefox a try - it is a nice alternative browser.
    Firefox
