  1. Mickey, your national day of mourning for all the victims of U.S. led oppression is a great idea! The ability of the right to view the facts with selective tunnel vision never ceases to amaze me.

Good riddance to Reagan - he was indeed a war criminal and an inspiration to the latest crop of war criminals infesting the White House.  Interesting that a man who “couldn’t recall” any of the particulars of the Iran contra affair was stricken with Alzheimer’s in his last years - karmic justice succeeds where human justice fails.

    Thanks, Mickey!

  4. It always astounds me that supposed leaders of the free world can get away with so much by simply claiming they’re doing it to fight evil. What’s worse is that because so many buy into this fallacy, the next generation of free world leaders are able to repeat the same scams as their predecessors.

  5. I think it’s the nature of politics to a large degree. Politics are all about power, money and ego, not necessarily in that order.  The vast majority of people who are captivated by those things are not the Noam Chomskys of the world, which is a shame.  They tend instead to be the Bushes and Reagans - not very bright but possessed of great ambition and a lot of superficial personal charm.  Of course, in the case of Dubya, one could argue that ‘not very bright but possessed’ sums him up.

Then there’s the mountains of disinformation, propaganda and revisionist history most people absorb. Add the non-stop bombardment of multi-media and infotainment, and it’s little wonder most folk don’t realize what’s really going on in the world. People are not encouraged to practice free thought and intellectual inquiry, they are encouraged to suck up the Fox/CNN version of reality and just behave like the proverbial frog in the pot of increasingly hot water.

It’s enough to make you run screaming to the hills, or drink the Kool-Aid.  But it’s encouraging to see forums like this where thinking people can read some sanity and still have a say.

Don’t let the morons get you down, Robert, we aren’t beaten yet. smile

  6. Excellent summary of Reagan, “who started it all.”

  7. Thank you! I’m so tired of everyone blowing sunshine up Reagan’s dead arse. He did “so many great things for this country”....blehhh

  8. When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will know peace.  I’m sorry for his suffering, and Nancy’s as well, but he was no friend of the people and he needs to be exposed for the fraud he was rather than cannonized as a champion of freedom.  Free from what?

    Peace,
    Mike
