  1. As we have known for some time, our “birthright” for “all the consumables our digestion will handle” is about ready to time-out.

Oil production has begun that predictable decline Bush and the oilheads have ignored for more than a decade. The ultimate result is “die off,” payback for a century of petro gluttony. It’s simple science, really.

I’d like to say we can turn the immense tide, but I don’t think we can, it’s too late and, besides, the SUV culture gives no indication of wanting to change or even understanding what’s happening, thanks to rightwing nutbars who deny we’re heading down the primrose path to destruction. Plus, SUVers are stupid, we know that now, it is indisputable.

Soon as gas gets up around three bucks a gallon or more (soon), the SUVers will be calling for blood, stealing every last drop of Saudi oil, and even donating their first born to the cause.

    It’s madness.

In the old days you’d “drop out,” find an island or remote wilderness to hid on or in, but this baby is truly global, no hiding this time around.

Maybe a more intelligent species will emerge in a few million years, maybe not. I tend to think a mollusk is more intelligent and more tuned into the planetary wavelength than say Tom Delay or Dubya.

Mollusks don’t tote bibles, either. I’d rather spend an afternoon with a mollusk than a Republican any day of the week.
