This is a wonderful article which eally shows the differenct concepts of each major US political party. It is also sensitive to the Spanish people and their feelings. I am an American who lived in Spain for many years, and thorughly enjoyed the government of Philipe Gonzalez. I have always felt that Spanish socialists were very similar to American Democrats. Spain needs encouragement and unity within, and our advice should be purely “opinions”, and we should not try to impose our philosophies on the Spanish, or patronize them. Spaniards are a beautiful people. They can think and decide for themselves. I have great hope for Prime Min. Zapatero, and wish him all the best from this American who loves the beloved country of Spain and its people. I miss it very much, but an eye problem forced me to come back to the US in 1992, After 11 years, many Spanish friends, and learning the beautiful language, I thank God for the joy of those years and for the lifelong friendships. ! Viva la gente de España! !Viva Señor Zapatero.!

As a people who value freedom of choice like no others, Americans should be thankful for Bush and Kerry’s clearly articulated differences of opinion on Spain’s decision to withdraw its troops from
Iraq. Let’s review: Kerry hopes Spain will think twice before it commits an act that will send the wrong message to terrorists; Bush calls the incoming Spanish leader’s policy of withdrawal naïve and a sign of weakness.
Really, concerning the above article, I thought this was a joke. Kerry’s stupid statement about Spain not withdrawing from Iraq is another reason I’ll not vote for him. There’s no real difference between him and the Bushies when it comes to Iraq. Too bad there’s no one except Kuncinich who has sense enough to want the American troops out of Iraq. How many more have to die everyday before Kerry and company get the message? Do the numbers have to get up to 58,000? Nearly 600 Americans, 100 soldiers from other the countries who were stupid or greedy enough to send their soldiers there, perhaps 10,000 Iraqi civilians dead and 6,000 Iraqi soldiers, 6,000 or 10,000 American soldiers wounded depending on what articles you read. The families of the dead are not even allowed to go to Dover ABF to bring their dead home. Bush has not attended one funeral in Arlington, and probably neither has Kerry. Seventeen have committed suicide since returning home.

Dear BBF-- The article was meant as a joke. It was an extended piece of sarcasm generated by my anger with Kerry. And the Democrats are a joke. There is no difference between Bush and Kerry’s stance on Spain taking its soldiers out of Iraq. But as with other issues on foreign policy, the Democrats will try to sell us on why it’s important to recognize the nuance in Kerry’s worldview compared to Bush’s. What Kerry said about the incoming government of Spain’s position on the Iraq war/occupation was disgusting and an insult to both Spaniards and Americans. It should disqualify him from receiving votes from any rational voter here in the United States.
