  4. Gee! How about gay rights? Nader thought that there just wasn’t any difference between Bush and Gore, and now he claims the same thing with Kerry. As Bruce Villanche said “You had to be gay to know the difference.” Kerry just said that he is for giving all of the same federal rights to gays and lesbians who are getting married in San Francisco, N.Y., and now Portland, Oregon. As far as I’m concerned that’s an answer to your “questions” including the one you pointedly did not ask.  Nader can go to hell, where he can bust the unions of Beezlebub’s minions, just like he did to his own employees who were working twelve hour days and just maybe wanted to make a little more than five thousand a year.  Relaxed? No, I’m not relaxed!

  5. Thought I’d ask another question. Does Nader give a shit about gays and le bians who can basically throw their rights away if Bush is “elected” again in 2004? Oh… I see...he doesn’t have to care.  He can “just relax” then. You, like Nader, need to stand more in other people’s shoes before you climb up on your political hobby horses.

  6. I’m confused by some of these so-called rebuttals.  It seems that, as usual, people want to fixate on one issue as though it’s the end-all-be-all issue instead of seeing it embedded in a severely flawed power structure. 

    I may be incorrect here, but my understanding is that Mr. Kerry has been a bit mealy-mouthed on the gay marriage issue anyway, i.e. he supports “civil unions” but not “marriages.” He may have changed that stance, but I believe that was his original position.

    What it comes down to is that getting rid of Bush, while a dream of mine, will do very little (in fact, nothing at all, really) to change the underlying institutional flaws of politics and governance in the US.  These flaws did not come into existence when Georgie-porgie came into office.  Just have a look at Billy Clinton’s record. (Warning...barf bag needed for perusal).
