Hannity, Just Answer the Question

I am mildly surprised Churchill even bothered to appear on their show. I admit I’ve seen it a few times—I don’t even watch tv anymore—but even I do know what level of discourse to expect. The only capacity in which we should expect Hannity to apologize for the war in Iraq is the one in which we know him… as a jingoistic apologist.

You accuse Hannity of an ad Hominem attack yet you do not seem to have any
problem with Churchill’s Tu Quoque response and the fact that HE in fact did
not answer Hannity’s question to begin with. You can call Hannity a master
of ad Hominem but whether he is or not, the truth is that Churchill had NO
GUTS to stand behind the infamous comments he made on the civilians who died
in WTC when confronted by Hannity. I guess you, yourself have no problem
with those comments either. In fact, you probably don’t see Churchill
commiting a Tu Quoque fallacy because you agree with his suggestions that
while the Iraqi casualties are completely innocent, those who perished on
9/11 are “little Eichmanns”?Posted by Alex from on 04/09 at 07:09 PM -
Theo...thanks for the comment. Maybe it is a good thing anytime a rare moment comes and an out-of-the-box point of view can be aired on corporate media.
Alex...thanks for your comments also. I will respond with just a couple of points. First, any time Churchill or anyone gets some air time they should use it for maximum good. That might mean that sometimes you DON’T allow the interrogator to control the situation.....Another point, wasn’t it the CIA, many years ago, who coined the term “Blowback” because they knew that USA policy would result in a disaster?

Rosemarie: When you put it that way, yes, of course I agree, that is a good thing. It makes me think of Blum’s comment about that in that Corseri interview.
When I think about it, the fact that I had the ear and the eyes of tens of millions of Americans who normally would never hear anything from me, or about me, and I could say things they normally are never exposed to at all by the mass media. So it really was marvelous.

Thank you so much for your article, “Hannity, Just Answer the Question.”
As someone who actually listened to the real debate between Ward Churchill &
David Horowitz, I was appalled by what the post-debate “interview”
degenerated into. I rarely watch mainstream press, and this disgusting
spectacle confirmed why. Hannity played a dirty trick by going completely
off-topic, but to add insult to injury he never allowed Churchill to
properly answer, or you noticed, whenever Churchill would do so, Hannity
would just cut him off. Or he would minimize Churchill’s arguments: “your
excuse that Donald Rumsfeld did some bad things doesn’t excuse what you said
about the victims of 9-11.” Yet he doesn’t mention that those “bad things”
include the slaughter of several thousand Iraqis and others in the Arab
world. Also, he minimized Abu Ghraib to “underwear on the head” and yet he
completely ignored Churchill’s counter that prisoners have been sodomized
with flashlights. The greatest irony of all is that Mr. Tough Guy Hannity couldn’t even
answer the simple questions posed to him, although we all know what his
answer would be. I thank you again for this insightful article and promise
to spread it far and wide. I think Mr. Hannity should have a copy as well.
Keep up the good work, and I do hope that you win your case on appeal,
imagine the irony of jailing a peace activist.Keep up the struggle. Power to the people!

Ward Churchill is a documented fraud. He claims indian ancestrage but cannot prove it and the tribes he has tried to associate with have distanced themselves from him. He got busted copying art of a real indian artist and proceeded to commit battery upon a reporter when confronted with this truth. It is absolutely unnacceptable for him to say the civillians killed on 9/11 are little Eichmans. The list goes on. . .
I concede that Hannity is unwatchable, but please, to denounce him by putting Churchill on a pedestal is pretty disingenuous.

Steve...The ancestry of Churchill is of no importance to me. Many Native Americans and others have embraced him.
He is not the only writer/historian to have pointed out that 9/11 was “Blowback”. The CIA first used that term because they, and most others who were paying attention, knew that USA foreign policy would lead to “Blowback”.
Some who were Tried for War Crimes after WW2 were, at the time of their crimes, thought to be upstanding, respectable citizens...clerks and pencil pushers. Connecting the dots and understanding the points that Churchill makes is not that difficult.
A war crime is a war crime and the technicians, economists, stock brokers, bankers, scholars, scientists, and consumers who support the war economy must share in the responsibility of any war crimes committed by their government. The bomb maker and the bomb financier are responsible along with the pilot and bombardier. The Nuremberg Principles are relevant today.
