Same As It Ever Was

Enjoyed your rememberance, Jordy. I remember suffering the same initial befuddlement, only to get it right after a week or so. I was writing and moderating for a web site and forum (no longer in existance) called “Netslaves” at the time and, after I began going against the commonly held grain—Muslims attacked, we need to kill a whole lot of them—I was attacked pretty roundly. I remember, specifically, the guy who ran the site yanked an article I posted on the insanity of organized religion and how it invariably leads to violence. It was pretty much downhill after that, a long story, not worthy of inclusion here, but suffice it to say it was an object lesson in how even relatively intelligent people can be so easily brainwashed into believing whatever the state tells them, with ultimately murderous results, for which they refuse to take responsibility.
