American and Canadian Media Continue to Fail: Four Nonsensical Conjectures about Iraq

The Canadian corporate media and state media are little better than US corporate media counterparts. The Herman-Chomsky propaganda model applies just as much in Canada as in the US. The major difference is that it is easier to criticize the US in Cnada.

The Chomsky/Herman model applies when it comes to actions of the Canadian state and bourgeoisie, but with more vibrant unions there are cracks, particularly in cities. It is easier to criticize American policy. Trudeau figured out that to stave off the increasingly popular socialist ideas, to appeal to counterculture and soft anti-war sentiment - and that is how the country is run.

What a shame, the Candiens are getting lazy too? Though I’m not surprised about the Globe and Mail, which, I’d be willing to bet, we will find out soon enough that there are Bushista paid columnists employed there.
Is timber and cattle really that important to roll over and turn yellow?

1. Yes, many Iraqis are involved in the resistance against totalitarianism which detroyed their country and their region. Of course, this isn’t the resistance that j supports/encourages. He rather focus on those who strap bombs on retarded kids, behead those trying to rebuild the country or who muster the courage to plant road-side bombs. J, like others in far-Left, is hoping than thousands more Iraqis die at the hands of totalitarians—and that these “brave” men once again establish a bastion of human misery in Iraq. Why? Human life and the future of Iraqis is not so important as US failure.
2. A war has been going on in Iraq for 30 years, yet Leftist said nothing. Ask the Kurds, Shiites and Marsh Arabs - not to mention Iraq’s neighbors. Over 1 million Iraqis died in this war prior to the US invasion. Saddam and his regime had already stolen the resources of this wealthy nation and had squandered them on palaces, torture chambers, mass graves, statues and weaponry intended for primary use against Iraqis themselves. The Left demonstrated no moral convictions or outrage or anything resembling concern for the Iraqi people in the first 30 years of the war. Which explains why they have no moral authority with America or the Iraqi people now. The Left would have condemned another million people to fill mass graves (since they offered no solution in this area) by Saddam or his sadistic sons-- as well as countless others to be raped, tortured and denied anything resembling a future of dignity.
3. The truth is that the Left needs to support totalitarians and others opposed to human freedom—no matter how repulsive their allies are and how much they need to sacrifice their “core convictions”—which have dwindled down to anti-Americanism and opposition to free societies (even their own, in some case). Core convictions like gay rights, human rights, women’s rights are just catchwords and empty rhetoric from the Left—watching all of these being negated throughout the Mideast and say nothing. How can you complain about the western media while serving up the talking points of state-run totalitarian media?
4. When will the Left actually stand for something that improves the human condition? Today, the Left would sooner push the Arab world toward annihilation, rather than towards a better life. Why is this? Its not so much that you project your rhetoric against the US that I take issue. Who cares? The US is strong enough for this rhetoric and the Left is politically irrelevant in the US . What bothers me is that the Left has decided to abandon core convictions related to human life and dignity in order to institutionalize a mediocre identity. Why? Why not try to make a difference instead of being mere pawns of totalitarians and tool of the right. Yes, j, you are a tool of the Right-- along with Churchill,Chomsky, etc. You mobilize huge majorities to vote Republican and to abandon all dialgue with those who share your perspective.
