Mickey, thanks for saying what needed to be said and thanks for making that connection between poverty and the WTO, IMF, NAFTA, and the World Bank....and still people wonder why “they hate us”.

While averse to glorifying violent “revolutionaries” like Che Guevara, his quote, which I’d never seen before, is in itself worth the price of admission to this article. Thanks, Mickey, for reminding us that while mega-capitalists base their rationale for growth on the theory that capital creates capital, the truth is that a pool of capital here drains streams elsewhere. There are those who would maintain Communism doesn’t work because it provides no incentive for entrepreneurs. How about: Its problem is its failure to provide enough arenas for entrepreneurs to do their work. People are less motivated by a need to make tons of money than by the imperative to fulfill their dreams by putting their plans into action.
