Sue Him, Noam!

A law suit wouldn’t do much good due to how the media would cover it. (No law suit aimed at making a point is worth doing without considering mass media coverage.) The suit would be thrown out quickly since I can’t see how Chomsky was harmed. (What’s he going to say? Because of this, he lost his regular gigs with CNN and the Washington Post? Media coverage would either not happen or would make Sullivan into a victim.
FWIW I think it is problematic to call Sullivan a “far-right winger.” He loves power but, to the extent that terms like “left” and “right” have meaning, he is far to the left of Kerry on the “war on drugs” and gay marriage.

Without disagreeing with the characterization of Chomsky, politics is not linear, and trying to describe him as “left” of the Bolsheviks is simply meaningless.

This was partially tongue in cheek

I sympathize w/yr. take here, but Chomsky is opposed to libel suits on libertarian principle. He has said that if he had sued any or all of those who’ve lied about him, he’d be a rich man—though Sully seems to think that Chomsky already makes “millions” spreading anti-American hate. Envy?
