  1. Who will protest these war crimes?  The people at Press Action will...or they won’t.  The will use words exclusively...or they will embrace other means.  They will remember that these crimes are part of an ongoing process that they haven’t stopped to date...or they will think they must respond immediately as if what’s happening is a singular event...sacrificing effective action by doing so.  They will discuss The Plan I have offered up for consideration...or they will put something else on the table for talk.  But they will NOT ignore providing constructive criticism on ANY contributions that address direct action.  They will allow themselves to think that there’s some kind of momentum in the country that’ll improve things...or they’ll realize that it’s up to THEM to push the envelope now.  Rhino provides a site in one of his comments in Reza’s piece on radioactive horrors which opens w a quote from Henry Miller.  I urge all to read it...and respond by doing something more than the avg. German did during WWII to help the gypsies et. al.  Repeat it, if you will, Rhino, please.

  2. Here is an easy plan.
    1. Sign the petition at http://www.ImpeachBush.org ! ! !
    2. Call or write to your Washington delegation.
    3. Pass the word along to everyone you know.
If all else fails, we can always take to the streets. I am ready NOW !.....In addition to this, we should all be supporting Richy’s plan in any way that we can.

  3. There are many different things that can be done to protest this and other crimes, ranging from writing letters to editors of national and local papers to providing material support to suffering people to attending solidarity rallies.

Frankly I am not sure what “The Plan” that Richard offers, but there are probably a multitude of possible things that can be done.  And indeed many people are in fact doing this.  But much more has to be done, and by many more people.  It can start from learning the facts to documenting human rights abuse in Iraq and else, to brining medical assistance to the victims, and to refusing to participate in war crimes, and so on.

  4. Learning the facts, and documenting and writing to editors, undoubtedly, does something. But we are stuck thinking that that’s where the bulk of our energy should be directed. In fact, the atrocities will NOT be dealt with significantly w/o getting the whole country’s attention by stopping their routines. One cannot reform this Monster into behaving well. THAT is what The Plan offers.  An op to opt out of the old paradigms as --pretty much-- the exclusive means for your activism, your push for change. If anyone goes to Best Bets on the Web in the sidebar here at PA...and brings up Kap Fulton’s San Diego Moon site...you’ll find my new Cynthia McKinney piece. In that article, I bring readers back to our OneDance Summit in Santa Cruz this past January...when all the “progressives” got together to do the same thing they’re doing now...the same thing you’re recommending...confronting The Powers with the same lack of efficacy.  They can tolerate and control what you’re recommending.  The Plan represents something more...that might create ripples.  Call or write.
