  1. In support of Micah’s thesis, I would like to add a much overlooked branch...of the tree he’s planted here.  To wit, consider his “his rule is perpetuated by the desire of his ‘subjects’ to court his favor.” Here Micah is talking about The Emperor, of course.  I would like to submit that the Emp’s rule is also proped up by our desire to court one another’s favor.  See comments attached to my Never-Never Land piece...posted here recently...for elaboration. You will note there that tiptoeing and walking on eggshells is addressed...as an alternative to confrontation by some...as an undesirable option by others.  The diffs among us must be thrashed through as much as the diffs b US and THEM.  Merci for the inspiration, Michah.  Best, Oxie

  2. I’ve been in the world long enough to have seen a few things. The “war on terror” is not just a fabrication of the truth, it is also the epitome of hypocrisy. In a story on http://www.antiwar.com today it appears that the Americans are using chemical weapons against the insurgents in Fallujah. And what was the reason for toppling Saddam Hussein again? In another story the Americans shot a British captain. According to the story the “panic-stricken US soldiers raked the military convoy he was travelling in with bullets.” Do you really think the US soldiers are having a picnic with this new (neo-con) way of life?

Now for the bad news. Remember 30 years ago how the USSR looked to the world? Well from where I am sitting (and remember since I am not in your country I get a much better view) the Bush Administration has made the USA look like the old Soviet Union. The American people are going to have to rise up and pull the plug on Georgie’s little insane War Plans, before the world is brought into a full scale conflict. If George hasn’t got the inclination to think, you’re going to have to do it for him. There isn’t a lot of time.

  3. Very well written, Micah, and it places the attention where it belongs too, I feel.  The wolf would not have been permitted to perform shepherd duties if the sheep were not sheep.  I’ve recently been investigating the power of trances in our lives, both personal and collective.  Dennis Wier has a good introduction on the subject at http://www.trance.edu/aprosex.html.  The more I read about the subject, the more I’m convinced that we need to take it into consideration re. our efforts to change the political landscape.  It also prompts me to conclude that we must be seeking a trance-formation, and not just a transformation, of the American electorate.
