  2. It is a great article Tracy...I especially like that fact that you point out that things were not always like they are now, and that the media is really responsible for much of what is happening because of the mis-information that continually comes over the airwaves. We are being assaulted on all sides...the plan to privatize Social Security is going to be the final nail in the coffin. That will have a big impact on those in the US and some might even wake up then.  Today’s big news is the beginning of another bloodbath in Fallujah.  Imagine how those people must feel, never knowing when the boots will kick down their door, and begin shooting and then say, “The chick was in the way”...  What have we become...As I write this, I am watching the bombs going off in the civilian areas.  Please, someone out there explain to me, why no one cares.  I don’t get it. WHAT HAVE WE BECOME !

  4. Tracy, I just want to say again that this is a great article. The previous commenter should check into how B.Gates got his fortune.

  5. All capitalists are contemptible.  Need it be said that the most exploitative, i.e., the “wealthiest,” capitalist is the most contemptible?  The Internet was developed by the US government.  As with so much else in high-tech, when it became a viable technology, it was turned over to private enterprise.  Capitalism - the socialization of risk and investment and the privatization of profit.

What have I done?  I haven’t paid a nickel in war taxes for over 30 years.  Let Bill Gates beat that!

  6. Incidentally, it’s not an issue of being “angry” with Bill Gates.  I was speaking for justice vis-a-vis an economic system with which I am disenchanted, and only mentioned Bill Gates as the furthest representative of that murderousness.  Bill Gates is probably a terrific guy, in the same way that the pResident, if you can separate the rapacity of what he’s led us into in Iraq, and his continuation of the imperialism of which his forbears set such a stunning example, is known as a down-home, aw shucks, regular and very likeable guy.
