A 'Stronger America'

A few weeks ago the Kerry campaign called me and gave me a list of “issues” to say which I thought was most important. The plan was for me to list one and then the guy who called me would talk about how great Kerry was on that issue. Instead of any of the issues he listed, I said “U.S. military power.” He then started talking about how Kerry would make America stronger. I began to laugh and then laugh some more to the point that I couldn’t stop. After three or four minutes he hung up on me.
None of this stopped the Kerry campaign from calling me again Saturday morning.

Where the hell did I read recently that Kerry wants to expand the number of people in the military by a substantial number (not just in Iraq, of course, they are related)? Is this “less violent” than Bushit, Noam? I keep telling people that the outcome of the election will be meaningless, but they laugh me off as too cynical. Problem is, I’m not nearly cynical enough.

Rhino Rick, what you say is too true. What this country needs is a lot more cynicism. I have believed for a long time, that on the issue of Iraq, Kerry is to the right of Bush. This is the most irrelevant, unimportant, undemocratic election of my lifetime. The choice between the two major candidates is an insult to the process. It has been known for many weeks, that the next president will be pro-war, anti environment, anti-people, anti universal health care, anti a livable wage...The major media hype just shows how much the main stream media does not get it. Shortly I will go to vote for the same candidate that I have voted for for the past 20+ years, NADER. When he was not on the ballot, I wrote him in. PEACE, rosemarie
