  1. I’m glad Mickey is focusing on the American Public here. That spotlight needs to be widened; too many activists are under a major delusion about the potential w/i the AP. And THAT is partly what’s wrong with looking toward the future...which supposedly holds a magical moment when understanding and attitude will take a positive turn among the AP, a time when all the patient building of a movement...will pay off. Enough numbers from the AP are not capable of turning around vis-a-vis the legacy of King Leopold, and I strongly urge all readers work on how to deal with the “little Eichmanns” and others who envelope us.

  2. Informative Mick . . . I especially appreciate how you and others are using sports analogies to make your polical and historical points. Few Americans are aware of Lumumba or Nkrumah. I am with Ox. Mick’s making the right move now, we already know a lot of this stuff . . . other Americans need to get a grip. The time, again, is now and those who got one are obliged to ‘speak the truth to the masses--no matter how bitter it may be’. Not every reader wants to plough through Chomsky style super-notated and citation riddled prose. (I want to add that if Chomsky’s reasonable fear that the human species may very well render itself and quite a few others extinct is not realized, then he will assuredly take his place alongside history’s great chroniclers, like Thucydides.) Anyway, I think that the Africa—African American connection needs more energy.  Decolonization is a huge, important historical event and ongoing issue. I would only add we should continue to support the visible, if slow, beginnings of a grand campaign to either dramatically reduce or completely cancel African debts. 21st century decolonization. It is this last that ensures that continent and its many peoples will be kept down.
