Interesting article Jordy, good work exposing these traitors to truth. As Peter Dale Scott said, (maybe he was even quoting someone else), the best propaganda is 95 percent true (which is a very high standard considering the detritus that passes for thoughful discourse these days). Thus a Hitchens could mingle in the Left for so long until his brain finally fell out of his head after 911 (and he endorsed WW III to fight the “evil doers”, to quote his hero George Bush).
I heard that Michael Moore was fired from Mother Jones for trying to run a cover with a Palestinian freedom fighter on it. Whatever the truth is, either way he got the message.

Thats why I said “legend has it”...I have heard a lot of reasons why McMoore, as Mickey calls him, was fired from Mother Jones. Both of the “good legends” are as follows - the one I repeated and the one about a Palestinian freedom fighter (which would be believable - he writes in Stupid White Men about going to the camps during the first Intifada)...Perhaps both…
In the case of Hitchens, he is a sad one because he appears to realy believe in - not world war 3 but as the man he once wrote about says - Podhoretz - World War 4. I think the moment came when he was wheezing and coughing on Doug Henwood’s radio show, insisting on how he was a historical materialist and such. drunken dialectics…

The Nation has moved right to a shameful degree. Marc Cooper constantly derides any attempt at a leftist stance. It is getting tiresome.
I am reading more and more anti left positions written from a “left” position.

Say Lewis, have you ever heard of a video outlet called Democracy University? Just type those words into Google and it shows up. A great source of progressive minded video taped lectures produced by Ralph Cole in California. Well worth supporting his efforts (and they are very cheap). Anyway, one of the 6 hours tapes deals entirely with the JFK assassination, fascinating. Marc Cooper’s name comes up as him being a flaming arrogant asshole (at parties and the like) who tried to make a career out of debunking the JFK debunkers while at The Nation. Cooper’s work was completely refuted by a brilliant researcher whose name I forget at the moment...I assume The Nation never ran the refutation.
