  1. Guess what stupid white man said this:
“Q. Who gave up a life of luxury and turned his back on millions to fight in the mountains and caves of Afghanistan for what he believed in and, as a result, is revered by millions as a “hero”?
    A. Osama bin Laden.
    (Alternate answer: Pat Tillman)”

I will give you a hint, his first name starts with an M. and he is to much of a coward to tell you his last name, but it starts with a Z. (At least he would have you believe that)

    ....still don’t know - Mickey Z.

  2. Jeff,
This is a passionate performence, one must say.
The judgment will catch up with time. I have faith!
I really like Paul Wolfowits, too bad he did not have any quote from him.
    I like Sharon as well.

Posted by Diane from  on  09/22  at  04:36 PM
  3. Well, these quotes surely do not represent the overall integrity of our benevolent ruling crass, who has our best interest at heart even if these folks who are merely fallible human beings (after all!) occasionally reveal a tad of cynicsm (never had a bad hair day?). Certainly the legacy the United States has provided to the world of mass poverty, death, plunder, environmental degradation and catastrophe (of incalcuable proportions), military expansionism and disruption to the social fabrics of almost every culture on the planet provides evidence of their perpetual magnanimity (I mean, can you think of a better present to give the world than the equivalant of 400,000 Nagasaki sized A bombs worth of radioactivity from the last four US wars? The deadly particles from Depleted Uranium weapons are now swirling in the biosphere for the next billion years or so to harm the living organisms they come into contact with: See: Leuron Moret’s work on the topic).

And yes Diane, I always liked Wolfie too, a good little Zionist warrior who has devoted his life to using the US gov for the purpose of strengthening Isreal’s role in power politics in the world. Can’t beat that for political savvy.

Finally, the man from Phoenix has a point: why doesn’t this Zezima character (who obviously has a chip on his shoulder, poor guy, probably a real loser) just piss off to some other radical journal (how about The Nation or Mother Jones, or Alternet, these are very radical) so that we can read some reely substantive and reliable journalism from the likes of Newsweek and USA Today here at Press Action?

    Thank you.

  4. Rhino,
Your world view is so wonderful and such a surprise given we are now in 2004.

I thought most bloggers and posters had worked their way out of that dead end rhetoric given the grim shadow cast upon our collective freedom following the attack of Sept 11. I find it sad that your complete dispise for the USA is shaped by such a perverted understanding of the world. Who is paying for your freedom?

  5. If you are really not some provocateur set out to waste people’s time (highly likely), please read the books by Noam Chomsky, Michael Parenti, Howard Zinn, Mike Ruppert, William Blum, Ed Herman, et al. et al et al., and then get back to me after you refute the data, as you have failed to do in your above post (e.g., 400,000 A bombs worth of DU contamination, Moret can be found on the web). Better yet, read my paper on US Militarism posted at http://www.wisehat.com.

Here in Japan, we enjoy having US troops based here to protect us from the swarthy hordes on the Asian continent, who are ready to invade at a moment’s notice. So yes, I do appreciate that much. Never mind the poor Dugong who will lose his habitat because the US needs another chopper launch pad. No system is perfect. Of course, there are other minor problems, as when US troops (young, uneducated, etc., see Chalmers Johnson on this) are able to get away with rape and murder and asundry other crimes and escape prosecution from the Japanese authorities. When the daughter of a US military personnel drove her car into the side of a commercial bus in Tokyo that was legally parked, she drove back to her base and escaped prosecution from the Japanese authorities (who have a gentleman’s agreement with their imperial masters). It took weeks for the arrogant bureaucrats to respond to the situation, only then paying 75 percent of the real damages (this is a small and trivial case but illustrative of the ongoing criminal behavior of the occupation). Thanks to the post WWII US occupation of Japan, the Yakuza (organized crime) enjoy a great deal of power in society due to US coddling (we regularly work with gangsters, they prove useful at enforcing imperial prerogatives).

There is also the environmental pollution and noise and dangers from the bases on Okinawa and elsewhere, small prices to pay for our freedom. Thank you for caring.

  8. Ricky,
I am sorry you felt provocked, I am not here to hurt your feelings or get you all worked up.
    Maybe my ideas are provoking…
I am genuily interesting in what my friends from the left are saying. I desperately want to understand the dept of the rethoric. However, each time, it takes me back to the same things: collective hatred; anti-Americanism and vicious anti-Semitism. I don’t want to be part of that, that ‘s why I left the left for the right; on these particular issues, only.

Now, let’s be friends, let’s have a real dialogue, I’d like that.
I teach like you, so we should get along.

Posted by Diane from  on  09/24  at  11:02 AM
  9. Ah yes, this is the old tactic of personalizing the issues, it’s not about an empirical study of history, but finding fault with the psychology of the messenger. This is useful for someone who is unable to engage in an actual debate (since their arguments are untenable). Did you read my study above?
As for antiSemitism, a highly misleading term, read the invaluable works of Israel Shahak who shows how the term has been perverted to serve political ends. Many of his works are available here:

  10. It’s unfortunate that when that one when looks for material critical of Israel and the politcals of zionism the end result is you frequently end up at one the many libertarian quasi-’White Nationalism’ trash sites like the one Rick has provided us with…

I would assume/hope you, Rhino, are descriminating enough as to not endorse everything you found here? I mean the debunked ‘The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion’ and links to Stormfront, The Western Safeguards Initiative, and David Duke? Get fucking real…

Posted by CK from  on  09/24  at  08:53 PM
  11. Hi Ricky,
I only see anti-Semitism, everywhere I look with my own eyes.

I will check your study again and Mr.Israel Shaha’s as well. Would you like to see my study?
Insults, despise, anger and stuff are personal always and rarely an exercise of objectivity or understanding.
I am here to address a human being with a conscience, so I keep it simple and gentle with you and others.
I profoundly disagree with the left rhetoric, it has simply been corrupted.
I thought the left cared for human rights. It needs to reinvent it self, I think, and catch up with the world’s real issues.

Diane said in a comment on http://hammorabi.blogspot.com

“I know it is a tacky name “Press Action” but it is a world out there. It is also extremely well organised...hilarious, sureal as they shit on the right and the US Empire. I love to meddle with lefties. “

Perhaps we shouldn’t feed the trolls…

  13. You got it!
I was waiting! I am happy you visited finally, maybe now we can visit each other and talk and have fun debatting politely as friends. Meddling with good faith! Imagine a bridge between us!
We already have adopted a couple of lefties who are part of our group of friends. It took a few post…
Come and “provock” or challenge our ideas and psitions...it gets borring constansly patting each other shoulders for agreeing all the time, between the lefties (like I see here) and between the right warrior-mongers, the zionists like me!

I will still remain polite here.
As I am also a lefty my self.

  14. Kurt,
Here is another link, much nicer.
Sam above is our blogger,a strong beleiver in his religion, a Shiite. A friend we all respect. He lost 15 members of his family to Saddam.
Hope you will comment. I will protect you, if anyone gets mean with you. You have my word.

  15. TO CK:

Read Israel Shahak’s Jewish History, Jewish Religion, The Weight of Three Thousand Years. You can download it for free (so to speak) from the Alabaster Archive. Shahak provides an objective context to current Middle East events. He was a Holocaust survivor who emigrated to Palestine after the war, and died in 2000. He was an extremely knowledgable, rigorous and fair thinker, too rare a breed in this world.

If someone refers you to an article from Time magazine, does that mean you endorse everything else they ever published? Please don’t smear or misrepresent my comments from above and attack the messenger because you don’t like the message.

To “I get around,” you make a good point, I will tire of this nonsense soon enough mate.

  16. CK is right about websites that host both real critical material and Nazi shit.  I have regularly seen my own work go up on sites such as these, and used the copyleft concept to threaten to sue them.  Most of them have taken my work down, but not a strange site called “Globalist.”

It is sad and disgusting when Nazis and Holocaust Deniers try to piggyback the principled pro-Palestinian left.  Where I’m from, the left is 90 percent Jewish or Arab/South Asian, so there is no problem with holocuast deniers...but we often have to kick people out still.  In parts of the States where there aren’t lots of Jews, Nazis and/or uneducated dups of “revisionists” attempt to influence these movements…

This is unacceptable morally, and strategically.  As opposed to distinctly separating the Palestine question from Anti-Jewish thought, these folks use Anti-Jewish thought to influence Palestin activists, and usually don’t succeed - especially among Palestinians themselves.  Shahak was a hero, and a foe of Nazis.  And Nazis think of Arabs as mud people.  The only reason they get involved in these causes is to attempt to push their historical revisionism, and/or as in the case of Heritage Front in Canada, fundd by the State in order to discredit sincere and principled enemies of Zionism.

  17. I gotta agree with get around from. Diane. are you just here to hit on us guys and talk about yourself and your paintings? I’m getting the impression it’s all about Diane.

Back to the subject at hand. Rhino, I’m going to check out your references. They sound interesting. I disregard most writings on the Israel and Palestinian issue because as you read the bylines or sources, they’re either one or the other and it’s hard to get an unbiased perspective. So thanks for the resource.

  18. Royal Carl,
    Do you feel better?
This is getting a little old!
More personal insults, I see. Keep it up!
But it is useless that way, if we wan to get anywhere. Or… you could get a grip and debate like grown ups. Come and stick your neck out in a “right” blog…
I am afraid, you are making it personal, my friend. DC: here we go, all ages, sex, colors, sizes, species...raised kids and dogs and thaugh patiently English adults like you...loved it. OK.
I have been working on a production for the past two years. Not many contemporary artists I know do so. This concerns me a lot. I hope others will make the link between human rights and democracy in 2004.
I am extremely disappointed in the left, with who I share so many values...gay marriage, free choice, social and medical reforms...legalisation of pot and hash, prostitution...humnanisation of the UN!
I find that in most texts written by the “left” lately, here and in Canada, there are lots of empty words, but I am not intertested to hurt anyone feelings or pride, really. Behind those words are human beens, I don’t like to ridicule others publicly or privately, just the terrorists.
I truly believe the soul of the left is infected with hatred, despise. I don’t like that much. You?
If ever you are interested in arts and international politics, you know where to find me.
    My regards and respects.

    As well it should be.

  20. Hit a nerve there Diane Girl? I think you should just go in for some self-examination, no offense intended don’t take it so personal. After checkin’ out your rightie blog and looking around at this one it just seems to me that you try to center the talk around yourself most of the time not the subject. I think you need to check your ego at the logon gate if you want to discuss the serious issues. Try to get through one post that doesn’t have the word “I” in it.

Back on subject. Rhino. checked out your resource. Sorry man, thanks but this one doesn’t qualify as impartial. Anybody else got one they think gives both sides of the issue? I would like to read a really impartial one.

Posted by roycarl from  on  09/27  at  11:10 AM
  21. good morning Jody,
    How’s that?
Could do like you, not to use too many “I”. Hide behind big words, “my” (sorry for using my), English boyfriend suggested that is is better english to make full sentences.
Self examination is something for all of us, last time checked!
Find it more real when intellectual honesty combined with the courage to stand up for ones own realpositions (not Chumsky’s...and co). Not affraid to do that here, inspite of the attacks and despise...so far. If it goes on, I will have to find another lefty blog with gentler manners… Face to face, it would be harder for you to talk this way, ‘know that.

    Now, let’s be serious, OK.
What do you guys think of Iraqis in their blogs, who have been defending freedom and democracy?
Why don’t you girls and guys, my lefty companions, debate with Iraqis as well instead of debatting between people who think exactly like you.
    Will this deserve more insults?

Posted by Diane from  on  09/27  at  11:29 AM
  22. Diane. I’m not trying to insult you I’m just giving it to you straight. If you want to take over a blog and make it all about you, go start a blog. Hell, I’ll even visit it and be polite as you please. It seems like you’ve already taken over two blogs now so you might as well go for one of your own is all I’m saying. Try it, you might like it.

Trying to divide the moderate Palestinian cause from the radical factions. Is it necessary for peace? Rhino what do you think?

Posted by roycarl from  on  09/27  at  11:53 AM
  23. Thank you Carl,
    This is better, “i” appreciated.
A few blogs are part of this studio here, “i” work with others. All the large paintings and drawings are from images from the net, Iraq’s mass graves mostly.
Have been working for months every day with friends around the world and in Iraq. There is a group of Ducth artists who are doing a similar thing. Please, see Cecil at Hammorabi (the Iraqi-Shia blog). Check also “Iraq The Model”, the three brothers (two are running in the elections), real amasing guys and so courageous. Or check Iraq At Glance, Ays; a very nice and articulate man as well.
You will noticed, that we are very good friends over there.  Would really like you to join us, let’s keep the insults and hurting stuff out.
However, ‘still looking for a lefty blog eager to debate in good sports. a bridge between left and right is important, as challenging as it.
What “i” like about this blog here, intelligent people exposing their own ideas (hopefully)and working hard at writing books they want to share.
I don’t see that as a self promoting thing, ‘doing the same as a simple artist. We all got to do that.
The link between human rights and democracy in 2004 is the drive behind the art works, here.

Posted by Diane from  on  09/27  at  12:18 PM
  24. Diane. You’re doing it again. You’re self-aggrandizing and centering things around yourself. Go start your own blog. You really need to. People with egos as big as yours need their own space. They just consume everybody else’s when they get on a blog. It’s not about you Diane don’t you get it? You’ve got everyone dancing to your tune on the rightie blogs? That’s nice, it confirms my belief that they lack intelligence generally anyway. So if you want to stick around here try a little humility and downsize that overinflated ego of yours is all I’m saying. People would probably like you hanging around if you didn’t gush all over everyone saying their your dear or your friends. Let them decide for themselves if they want to be your friend. You’re like an air-kissing erotomaniac. It’s a turnoff girl.

Anyway, enough about Israel and Palestine let’s talk about Diane, right Diane?

Still let’s get back on the subject alright with everybody? I’d like to get some questions answered.

  25. In re: Diane’s #4 comment above: “I thought most bloggers and posters had worked their way out of that dead end rhetoric given the grim shadow cast upon our collective freedom following the attack of Sept 11.”

I wonder if Diane thinks a shadow was cast over our collective freedom when the CIA assassinated Allende in Chile in 1973 and ushered in the three-decade iron-fisted rule of Pinochet, with strong US support, and the disappearance of more than 3,000 Chileans?

When the US carpet-bombed Vietnam and murdered more than 3 million Indochinese, severly wounding millions more?

When the CIA assassinated Arbenz in Guatemala in 1954, ushering in three decades of terror in which more than 200,000 Guatemalans were slaughtered?

When the CIA assassinated Mossadeg in Iran in 1953, ushering in the nearly four-decade rule of the murderous Shah and his secret police, Savak, with strong US backing, with thousands murdered and thousands more political prisoners?

The perennial attacks on Castro?  Support for the genocidal Suharto in Indonesia?  The assassination of Lumumba in the Congo?

There are other instances similar to these too numberous to mention, and which are the rule not the exception in US foreign affairs.

I daresay if Diane comments at all on these “shadows cast over our collective [the human race’s] freedom,” she will entirely ignore the substance of these crimes for which perpetrators, Kissinger to take just one, ought to be in the docket in the Hague, and not pulling down millions in sweetheart deals with the Chinese.
