Will the Internet spawn a new method of writing?
I ask the above question after reading something about how the introduction of photography drastically impacted the art of painting. The invention of the camera reduced the impact of painting realism and indirectly freed artists like Duchamp, Picasso, and Pollock to tap into a new kind of artistic representation.
Writing—with the possible exception of cut-ups—has not undergone a similar transformation. So, I’m wondering if the computer and the Internet will somehow end up changing how writers write. After all, a software program can “write” a novel, right? How will human creativity respond (beyond “ttyl” and “lol")?
Any thoughts?
