Tell-a-friend Thursday, plus: John, Yoko, bagism, and some frightening food for thought
Good morning, Mickey...I am happy to see the reference to food on your site today. I am in the process of putting the finishing touches on my new article about Iraqi Order 81. We are approaching the day when the entire food supply of the planet will be controlled by a handful of corporations. While all of us “little people” are thinking “oil”, Monsanto is thinking “seeds”. The news about the new Monsanto pig is pretty interesting. I wonder what plans they have for people.

I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truthPosted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/11 at 10:22 AMThose martial law plans may not work out like the pentagoons think, Mickey. I’ll look around and see if any of the ex-mil people I know have any thoughts about it. Off the top of my head, I’d say a sizeable minority won’t like the idea of becoming domestic law enforcement one bit.
Posted by Harry on from 08/11 at 10:33 AMWe’d sure get a good picture of just how divided this country is.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/11 at 01:23 PMHi Mickey,
- And Rosemarie & Harry -
One thing seems increasingly certain - The “nation” and the world in which we’ve lived our lives is being shut down, deliberately and definately. The great Elite Dystopia is now arising, right before our eyes. We’re going to “live” in it, or die in it, or hide somewhere within it…In China there was once a phrase used to “curse” one’s enemies: “May you live in interesting times.” Well, these are very, very interesting times - and all this is just the rehearsals. To continue to “see” the future in terms of our past, as essentially “more of the same,” with a few new variants, is probably foolish… They are installing a new operating system, and soon they’ll “restart” the computer and see how it works.
I generally try to resist such thoughts. After all, how can they do any good? I then think: We’ll find some way to overwhelm their insanity and their immense power. Well, I actually think we will! But, alas, I think there will be a great storm, a “perfect storm,” first…
Posted by joe on from Oregon 08/11 at 02:18 PMHi Mickey and Harry.... Joe, I agree with your “Perfect Storm” concept. I too think that something big will happen, otherwise we just slowly continue to sink into oblivion.
Posted by rosemarie jackowski on from down on the farm 08/11 at 04:18 PMSomeone once said: “Every revolution appears impossible...until it starts to happen. Then is seems inevitable.”
I hope so...because I’m scanning the horizon and don’t see anything “big” brewing.
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/11 at 04:30 PMHi again-
I wanted to apologize for leaving behind such a pile of doom and gloom…
First and foremost, I suppose, slavery is in the mind. Today, I’ll live as free as I can - ready to duck or parry or embrace, trying to respond appropriately to whatever might arise. That ought to be enough…
I’m glad to see you’ve installed a little “donate” button, Mickey. Most sites seem to have them, and they all should. This is not just some neutral free space which greets us every day when we arrive. Obviously, lots of effort goes into it, and we are all the benificiaries of that effort.
Rosemarie, this will be your second piece on “Order 81,” won’t it? I enjoyed the first one, I look forward to reading this one too. You’re wonderfully courageous and resiliant, Ms. Jackowski.Posted by joe on from Oregon 08/11 at 04:31 PMYeah, I wasn’t sure about the “donate” thing but it’s cool because it’s voluntary. No pressure...and anonymous (like bagism).
Posted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/11 at 04:51 PMSomething big?
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article9738.htmPosted by Mickey Z. on from Astoria 08/11 at 05:28 PMMickey and Joe, I just received this. The Cindy situation could be used as a tipping point, if people don’t miss the golden opportunity. Timing is everything.
-------------------------------------------
Call to set up “Camp Caseys” nationwide if Cindy Sheehan is arrestedCindy Sheehan was informed that if she doesn’t leave by Thursday, when Condoleezza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld are coming to the ranch, she will be arrested because she is a risk to “national security.” Right now, she is camped out on the side of the road with veterans, other Gold Star Mothers, and supporters at “Camp Casey,” named after her son who was killed by George W. Bush.
If she is arrested, Troops Out Now is calling on local organizers to set up their own Camp Caseys across the country in solidarity with Cindy Sheehan and her supporters.
Bring tents, placards, posters, and banners to your local park, city square, or other public place and occupy it to support Cindy Sheehan and demand her release.
In New York City, supporters will set up Camp Casey in Union Square beginning at 5:00 pm if Cindy Sheehan is arrested.
For more information call 212-633-6646.------------Joe, yes this will be my second piece on Order 81. I was very pleased to get good reviews from some farmers and plant biologists. That meant a lot to me because most farmers that I know work too hard to keep up on the news about Iraq. Some are not on-line, but that piece was also published in some newspapers............Back to the Cindy topic. Looks like she might go the route of putting the government in a no-win situation. It is an effective strategy. If they arrest her, they loose and if they don’t arrest her, it sends a message that the government does not want. I am watching this closely.
